The Visigoth tribe, under the Warking Alaric, sacked Rome, but the united tribes fell apart upon his death. The Ostrogoths rose up from the ashes of the Visigoths, and sacked Rome again. Anglo-Saxxons where also of Goth decent, and where shipped to England as mecernary fighters, and where left there. The Franks, are another Gothic Tribe, situated in Franch. A while after, Christinaity completed the collapse of Rome, and the faith came to the Germanic Gothic tribes. Who embraced it, and did away with their Norse beliefs. |

Hmm didnt todays Goth's dress sense and look origionate from the new romantic scene , with all the ruffles and *old style* gothic clothing and MEN wearing makeup , and the advent of electronic music as it progressed and evolved , and then from that the industrial scene came about , and the music got *darker* and the cloth's blacker and the face whiter due to some bizzare connection and obsession with death I have yet to understand . And then the 90's came around and we got such classic tracks as "Black number one" >: |

The Visigoths went west, and participated in the conquest of Rome, while the Ostrogoths went east, possibly doing things I don't know anything about. | Perndog | The Gothic period of history was somewhere in the late Middle Ages - knights, castles, superstitions about dragons and vampires and all that. That's where goths originally got their imagery from, and then it kind of spiraled downhill with more pop-culture, pagan, and Satanic influences. It's associated with cry-babies because those are the kind of people who it appeals to; anyone can become a goth and have sort of a sense of belonging and a justification for being an outcast everywhere else, so whiners who are universally disliked can become goths and either feel better about their sorry asses or be proud of their misery. | ||
