The One and Only... |
How did we get to talk about public education. Oh, yeah, I remember... I would support a system much more if it simply created eductational libraries that students could use, without actually having school. It would certainly cut down on expenses, and likely provide better education... at least, for those who tried to educate themselves. Better yet, offering books through online downloads would be a perfect way to modernize education, promote homeschooling, and reduce the cost of education even more. If you don't have access to a computer/internet, you could go to the local public library to print it out, or ask a neighbor, etc. For those who like to have someone else to learn with, I would suggest forming small study groups. This would greatly help in the studies of some subjects, such as foreign language (which, BTW, should probably have some audio downloads). All of this would essentially rid the U.S. of public schools, but still leave much opportunity for even the poorest of children to receive a good education, so long as they dedicate themselves to it. This would also, hopefully, promote learning a second language from a early age (something I still don't understand why we haven't done yet). This would also lessen the disparity in quality of education between the social classes that exists in our current public education system. |

mburbank | I used Nixon's official whitehouse portrait. All I did was tone it green, bump up a couple of highlights and replace the eyes and teeth.

Perndog | That's okay, as long as your parents taught you well enough in your first five years or so, college can make up for most mistakes you make in high school. You can graduate high school with a 2.0 and go on to get a PhD if you really want. They assume a pretty low common denominator for college freshmen.

The sad part is, I was homeschooled my junior year and because of that I both learned twice as much as I ever had in school and made it twice as difficult to get into college. :/ School is government mandated daycare. It has little or nothing to do with learning. That is a job of the individual, and unfortunately the youth of my generation is more concerned with instant pleasure than education. So am I in far too many respects. ![]() |

Immortal Goat | Hey, I never said that private schools were a LOT better than public schools, they are just good enough for me to get the Franklin part of that joke.

I believe I already made that point. Perhaps I should quote it... Quote:

Skulhedface | Agreed. Although I dislike the part about me sponsoring these public schools, it's a tad illegal not to pay at all. *Sighs*

Sethomas | Yeah, plus all the presidents that occur on currency. Like Presidents Hamilton and Franklin.

I have no hope for the futeure now, also no hope for any political satire I was going to do in the future. Thank god Max didn't use one of the lesser know Presidents like Taft, Garfield, or Coolidge. Would you all recodnize Jimmy Carter " the inventor of Nuttella), or Gerald Ford? I hope so... If the only Presidents you can point out are Ronnie Raygun, Geo. H.W. Bush, Bubba, Geo. W. Bush, i weep. |

Actually, when I first saw Vinth's new avatar, I was laughing as hard as I ever have, seeing as how he couldn't POSSIBLY have realized who it was, or he would never have done it. |
