AChimp Didn't Blood come with a special version of Build? I remember that there were a lot of map features that weren't present in the original Duke3D.

My brother and I used to make maps, but we could never get certain things to work properly (probably because we spent too much time playing instead of reading the manual). I always put crazy amounts of detail in the maps.

BLACKJACK: You can get the sound to work if you download this new win-32 Duke thing. Just put your GRP file into the bin directory and it will run (or should run). You might have to copy over the control definitions into the CON files.

Anonymous I ended up using Build more for Blood, but used the Duke build a fair amount :D

pjalne I made my entire house in Build. It was a bitch getting the staircases to work with those stupid teleportation devices.

Anonymous I was a total Duke fag. I had the level design handbook and the Atomic Edition CD.

I still have both. I'll look into that windows patch sometime.

Blackjack RAH!!!

A few years ago I was a mapper for Duke3d and was quite prominant within the tiny, nerdy community. Then Dukeworld died and life went to shit. Again.

I can get Duke3d to run under Windows 2000 but can't get the sound to work!!! I'm sure my sound card has soundblaster emulation, but getting it to work under that shitty DOS Setup program where you have to select the address and IRQ and all that shit - no chance.

I still have all my levels I made for Duke if you're interested/bored. Quality stuff, I assure you.

Perndog Damn, I was wrong...the only file you can download is the program part, you need the 25M game content file...so you'll need the CD to install it. Sorry, dude.

eggyolk Nope, doesn't work.

Perndog Go to that link I posted and look on the right hand bar, the file labeled Binary only release, duke3d_w32_b17-5.zip.

eggyolk wtf do I download Perndog? You know about Kazaa, I don't wanna open it up and trudge through shit when I won't even get the real game. Maybe I'll get Math Blasters or Duke3D with no sound. You know how Kazaa is. :/

AChimp I got the new version working, but the duke3d.cfg was all weird and I couldn't figure out the controls, so I copied the key definitions from my old config file into the new one and it works perfectly.

Except, I suck hardcore now.

AChimp I stopped playing Duke 3D when it stopped working on my computer (which was approximately two computers ago). I was King Shit of RPGs and Jet-packing, and my brother and I would play on LAN against each other for hours.

Memories.

FS You'd probably just come across downloads of Duke Nukem 1 and 2, I think.

I've still got a copy of Duke 3D, would be nice to set up some Dukematches with people here.

BlueOatmeal you could do a serch on dogpile or google for "Duke Nukem Abandonware" and you should be able to get it.

Perndog 3D Realms released the source a few months ago, and several independent groups are working on Windows ports of Duke 3D - right now they're available in patch only format (meaning you have to have the game installed first), but hopefully soon you'll be able to download a freeware copy of Duke 3D optimized for Windows.

EDIT: I was wrong, binaries of the full game are already available. Look here for them.

Duke 3D - Is it alive?

Sadly, I missed out on this gaming phenominom as a youngster, so here I am, a few years later looking for this game. I search on Yahoo and I get shareware. I could boot up Kazaa, but...blech...

Don't flame me too much. :/
