Socialism would work if we were all caring and selfless. Democracy would work if we were all well informed. Libertarianism would work if we all held principles paramount. Anarchy would work if we were all well educated and intelligent. Stop it with the "would work" shit. Nothing will ever work. Individual anarachy is the only thing that can ever be said to universally work. And its nice to see that more people are begining to value holding principles paramount. |

mburbank | Well, I think it's swell that you can muster the kind of simple "Go Team!" paint-your-face shake them pom poms beer hat enthusiasm which pollutes the other major parties. Good on you, sir! |

Ho-hah! I do believe the LP is the largest 3rd Party! "Libertarians have long been advocates of having the smallest government and fewest possible restraints on individual rights. Many see themselves as 'currently a fringe part of the American polity.' But [they] may be underestimating [the] movement's influence. In 2000, 1.7 million people voted for Libertarian Party candidates for the U.S. House. That's the first time a third party has ever pulled more than a million votes in congressional contests, according to Richard Winger, editor of Ballot Access News, which tracks such things. It was the best showing, percentage-wise, for a minor party since Henry Wallace's Progressive Party in 1948." -- Noah Shachtman, The American Prospect, October 7, 2003 |
