There is one at the store I work at. We have several Out of Print Criterions - Charade, Sid and Nancy, Robocop, and a couple others. The worst I ever did was selling my Criterion Kurosawa box set. ![]() ![]() |

Royal, Be ashamed if you had paid $50 for Ishtar. When you shell out that much for a good movie from an excellent company you paid for quality. Most don't do that. Now, if I can score a copy of Criterion's Robocop, that would make my day. ![]() |

I paid $50 CND. Not proud of it, but one must have Criterions. I sold 3 on Sunday though. ![]() |

It is expensive, but it is definitely worth getting. You get two different cuts of the film, one which is Gilliam's amazing cut, and the other which is the studio's uber-shitty, yet so bad it's hilarious, cut. Also, the documentaries are great, and the commentaries, etc. are excellent. If you like Gilliam then get this and the Time Bandits Criterion, because they are both awesome movies. ![]() |

Zbu Manowar | Sweet! Off-topic, is Brazil really worth getting? I've seen the film maybe once a long time ago and I figure getting the DVD is the best way to refresh my memories. Plus, I heard that 'making of' docu rocks. |

Actually, the reason it's overpriced is because Criterion is releasing it. They're a company who likes remastering and really doing some excellent work on old black and white films as in restoring them, making sure they have the complete print, as well as just including all these kinds of fantastic extras. Sadly, because they're a small company, they have to charge a fairly high price for their discs to cover the remastering and restoration costs. But on the good side, nowadays they're cutting the costs by releasing newer movies 'worthy' of their esteem. Fear and Loathing is one of these but granted, it will get the Criterion treatment. Another example is the out-of-print Robocop which is truly uncut and from the cuts I've seen, a wonder to behold. But otherwise, I'd try Deepdiscountdvd.com to see if they have it in yet, or try dvdpricesearch.com to see what companies have it for what price. You'll find a deal there definitely. |

Try ordering it from Canada? Sometimes that works, because our money is worthless. Amazon.ca /chapters.ca etc. |
