Slinky Ferret That sounds just like Uni. They seem to think that because your parents earn above £15,000 a year then they can magically manage to send two children to university. When I leave uni I will owe at least £12,000. Thats about $24,000 or so.

I hate banks, I hate the government and I hate the greedy universities that give me a shit timetable.

Les Waste The whole financial aid system sucks in America. They never give you enough money, but people still leave school owing about $14,000 in loans. And the financial aid they give you is based on how much money your parents have, regardless if your parents help you at all. So people who get no help from their parents (regardless of how much their parents have) get screwed. I know people who work multiple jobs and are never able to study because they have to work every second they aren't in classes to be able to afford to go to classes.

It sucks.

:(

That sucks. How do you afford to go to university over there? I think you call it college or something. One of my cousins said he had to have three jobs because his mum would not give him any money.

Les Waste Did you know in America, you lose eligibility for student financial aid for one year if you receive a citation for possession of marijuana?

Barclays

I have had an account with this bank since I was 13. So last year I opened a student account and recieved my student loan. Then as almost every other student I know has done I went on a bit of a spending spree. Well I bought myself a new computer and alot of books. Anyway to cut a long story short I am fed up with this bank.

Why?

1. The still consider me a first year despite the fact that I completed one year and then moved universities.

2. Sometimes they let me go alot of my overdraft limit and sometimes they don't. It all depends on how they feel. This has resulted in alot of cheques and direct debits that have bounced which have now cost me alot of money.

3. They gave me a full credit card despite the fact that I only earned £50 a month and was a full time student. They seem to ignore that fact.

4. They won't increase my overdraft anymore mainly because of #1 and because they are inflexible bastards.

I have opened another student account but I am still waiting for my details. I have a job, I lost my job at M & S due to them not having enough money to keep me on but I have one at the library. Sadly I can only work four hours a week. I have applied for other jobs but am waiting for the letters.

So what do you lot think I should do? I don't know how the student system works in America but I'm sure you have a decent time table that is alot better for getting a good job. I worked all over the summer and Christmas and Barclays have just taken and taken.
