Why are you telling me this?

I don't care.

AChimp If you watch the AVP behind-the-scenes thing at Apple.com, they show in the storyboarding that the Aztec Predators nuke themselves to kill all the Aliens and everything for miles around.

WHO THE FUCK STOPPED THE ALIENS FROM INFESTING THE ENTIRE PLANET IF THE PREDATORS WERE WIPED OUT????

The entire fucking idea behind the xenomorphs is that they COMPLETELY infest and wipe out an entire planet, even if there is ONLY ONE present.
The Aztec Predators used the self-destruct method to wipe out all the xenomorphs, but that leads to this: Why are the temples still there if their explosions wipe out everythng in a near-mile radius? Perhaps they lured all the xenomorphs in one centralized location (could be why all the Aztec people died out), and then the Preds self-destructed, killing all the xenomorphs (along with the Aztec preds) and leaving that area abandoned. You know what? Fuck it. We'll find out when it comes out, or they won't explained, leaving a terrible plothole which they'll try to fix in a bad sequel.

DamnthatDavid Aieeee, this movie can go either way, blow or rock.
Now, if they did a Cameo of the "Thing" in the movie, where human, alien, and predator have to join forces to defeat this uber monster creature, which after absorbing Alien, and Predator DNA, is 10X harder to kill. Damn, I love cheesy movies.

AChimp Yeah. And they basically end up just being guys with breasts.

EDIT: Plus, the always get the chick commando to knee one of the male leads in the nuts to show everyone just how tough she is. Then invariably, she gets separated and either dies or one of the dudes has to rescue her.

FS Or maybe they'll find technology in the temple they can put to use. Discarded weapons, or trophy collections.

The movie might be very cool, I just hope they don't 'cheat'.
Nov 1st, 2003 05:47 PM
Drev That I agree with. :/

UNLESS is all the predators go Kamikaze with the self-destruct bombs and the humans escape the temple.
Nov 1st, 2003 05:45 PM
FS So, a bunch of archeologists is going to get caught between Aliens and Predators... I see a retardedly unrealistic (relatively speaking) victory for the humans.

Unless the humans are armed to the teeth with state-of-the-art weaponry, which would be rather strange if they're going in expecting an ancient, abandoned, human temple.

the_dudefather it will be the first time we see the xemomorths on earth. but in antartica.

i wonder if the humans will be a 'rag-tag' bunch of commandos like most other movies of the genre...

it would be cool if a pred-alien showed up (as seen in aliens vs predator 2: primal hunt)
Oct 23rd, 2003 05:45 PM
AChimp What if the humans win, though? :/

Protoclown Actually I think the plot sounds like shit. Here's as much as I can reval in this thread without dropping spoilers. I clipped this from IGN.

The Background Story

Here's the idea in a nutshell: Predators have been using our planet for thousands of years as a training ground for their hunter-warriors. Aztec temples were the focii of this training, and Aliens were used as prey. The Aztec people saw the Predators as gods, and built many of their monuments for these hunters. The movie's choice of Aztecs seems strange, since their civilization only dates back a century before Columbus. If the producers wanted something old, why not the Olmecs, whose ancient civilization was the progenitor of later Meso-American empires? I guess Aztecs are just cooler.

At any rate, the Aztec Predators were wiped out by an out-of-control Alien infestation, and that was the end of that. But they also had an older, more secret temple buried under the icecap of Antarctica, where the training continued. Fast-forward to the present day.

The Main Plot

Charles Weyland, the billionaire industrialist, has discovered the Antarctic temple using thermal imaging satellites. Thinking that this could be the site of mankind's Master Culture, he assembles a crack team, Jurassic Park-style, to go take a look. What they find, instead of a manmade temple, is a Predator temple where five young hunters are about to conduct their first Alien hunt. The Predator weapon of choice is a six-bladed shuriken throwing star, while the Aliens use their trademark infest-and-impale method of fighting. The humans, of course, get caught in the middle of it. Movie tagline: "Whoever wins, we lose."

Sergeant_Tibbs Is fox actually going to do this or are they just thinking about it (again) in order to get our
hopes up and then crush them like an aluminum can under a Cadillac.
