that's one of the advantages of being deaf, i could just turn off my hearing aids and get some peaceful sleep. but then i'm most likely to be burnt alive if the building i live in were ever to catch fire.

i've already learned and accepted the fact that people are going to be ignorant about it. there are times when i'm all bottled up and my patience runs out, i start bitching to let out the steam. i go through this type of cycle every 3 months. i remind myself that it could've been a lot worse for me anyway. i could be deaf and blind with no legs and no arms, living in a one room rat infested apartment with a dysfunctional black family of 10 kids on welfare and deep in debt.

mburbank Nope. Don't know you. Just wondering. I wasn't aware you were deaf, I just thought it sounded as if people were giving you shit over something they didn't understand, and that got me to wondering if we'd ever met.

glowbelly my boyfriend is deaf in one ear cause he had cancer in his head. he's lucky and sleeps on his good ear so he doesn't have to listen to the white trash neighbors screaming at each other at 3 in the morning.

i think sign language is cool.

i know the alphabet, but that's about it.

i know that it's probably pretty hard to not get down about it, but you shouldn't. the people who treat you badly are just ignorant.

everybody has problems. yours has just manifested itself physically. take care to not weigh your issues against others. it's not fair and tends to make people perceive you just as you wish they didn't.

Geggy I wear this device called hearing aids on both of my ears so they'd help me to hear things like music. i have the ability to catch shift changes, understand the tones of the sound and get myself morphed into songs. although, i can't alway decipher what the vocalists are saying, i'd just read the lyrics and follow through or have someone interpret for me using the sign language. yes, i know sign language and you don't. haha. can i teach you?
