Royal Tenenbaum | I watched this yesterday, and I loved it. The whole thing came together so nicely, even though the budget was extremely small. The writing and the acting were excellent, and the high contrast photography had a bizarre beauty to it. Great pulp story, but lifted beyond just basic entertainment. A cross between film noir, french new wave, and cinema verite that I'm glad has been fortunately saved from footnote status by the Criterion Collection release. |

The Honeymoon Killers The Honeymoon Killers: Anyone seen it? I've been reading about it for years and I finally saw it. It's major. The Flat light, the steady, glacial pace, the mundane nature of it's violence. Every bit of underplaying heightens the horror. Highly recomended. |
