ProfessorCool Next time give a better example than pink fudgebeast.

subterfuge I guess I gave the impression that I don't like 8-bit. I love the hell out of it! I just think it's so over done recently. Everybody's going nuts with the style. I was thinking since an 8-bit pixel building already existed, along with gobs of other pixel city sites, that it would be fun to create a new style for a tall building. Although, I'm down for the whole idea anyway, since I missed my chance at the original tall building So, let's do it!

Emu I always thought 8-bit art was more appealing than this 3D BS they put out today.

Mockery Sorry, not interested in Vector. Vector graphics, along with 3D are just overused these days. I prefer the nostalgic look that comes with pixel art. Besides, a lot of the content on I-Mockery is based on the old pixelated games, so having a pixelated building is very appropriate.

Anyway, Helm is working on a crazy building and he might have something to show me later on this weekend. I'll keep you people posted.

ProfessorCool No way is the tower of mockery going to resemble that pink fudgebeast.

subterfuge WAAAAIIITT!!! HOLD EVERYTHING.

Now my opinion may be pretty lame because I'm new here, but whatever. Why do we have to go and do isometric pixels like everyone else? A tall building idea is cool, but i think we should do vector style instead. Clean, huge black outlines, shiney marks. That sort of thing.

It's just an idea. Since the pixel thing has been done. It could still be in idometric format. It would just be vetor. It wouldn't even have to be real vector. It could just have that feel. Like this image:

Mockery Ok sounds good. I'll PM you with the details on it.

Thanks Helm

Helm Okay I will make the template when I get the swing of pixel art again (computerless for two months). Now is the time to give me specifics. I'll definately have a big I-mockery (complete with pickleman) sign on the roof, but any other stuff you want to see on the bottom floor and on the roof, now is when you (Mockery, not you other fags) tell me. Cameos, signature stuff you know.

Mockery Welcome back Helm. :o

I doubt they'd want to do it cuz I'm not paying for this particular project. It's just a silly lil' idea that may or may not work out. But I'll be more than happy to give some free stickers or whatever if ya like.

So yeah... give it a go if ya can, Helm.

Helm Hello. I am recovering from some major hardware (motherboard) and software (virii) problems. But it seems I've finally got everything under control... for now.

Now the style of artwork that would best work for this kind of thing is 'isometric'. All right angles and stuff like in the Wong building. I'm not too good at the style and frankly there are several pixel artists that are exclusively making isometric pixel art. The best one around is a person going by the nickname Zoggles. His website is at www.zoggles.co.uk. Another is Gunstar Red with his army of trolls website at: http://www.armyoftrolls.co.uk/ Both are amazingly better than me at iso pixel art and I suggest you hire either of them to create your template. If however neither are available or you're too cheap to pay for their services, I'm prepared to give it a go. No promises though.

But yeah, Helm is the way to go if you can find him and he has the time.
It's nothing too big.

First, the artist would need to draw the top and the bottom of the building. Those would be the most involved things because they would have other graphics (people, scenery, whatever).

Then the artist would have to draw the middle building section, including a few blank template pieces that people could choose from to fill in on their own.

ultra perfect cell Yeah, I suppose your right. This IS very important. But was it a yes? But yeah, I'll post my latest pixel art. I'll warn you, it's a DBZ related thing.
Apr 24th, 2004 01:07 AM
Mockery If you can't figure out that much on your own, then you really shouldn't be trying to help out with such an important part of the project.
Apr 23rd, 2004 09:57 PM
ultra perfect cell Oh, ok. That's not what I was gonna do anyway. So I just need to show my work? Something I did already? OK. But how do I post it? As an image, or something?

i just dont want shit to be all dbz or whatever...
:/

Mockery Personally, I don't care who works on the project as long as the quality is good. I'd need to see some samples of the person's pixel art before I got them to start on drawing the building.
