Also, it wasn't the actual joke that was visualized. It was a take ON the joke. Instead of the comedian narrating to an animation, they were acting out their joke in a skit-like fashion.

mburbank You guys don't know shit, "Shorties" rocks.

This show just takes old stand-up comedy routines and animates crap without anybody's permission. Janeane Garofalo (whos cartoon is a skinny, short-haired blonde woman that wears make-up, nice sweaters, and tight pants) was complaining about this on the Majority Report once.

Cap'n Crunch It was Regis Philbin's Comedy Hour.

Shostie Didn't Comedy Central already try this theme before? I seem to remember a show where they would show bits of a comic's standup, then splice that in with little live-action skits based off of the comic's bit. But I can't remember the name...

DAMN!

mburbank Wht are youy idiots talking about? That show is awesome!
May 15th, 2004 06:11 PM
mburbank I thought it reeked like a sulfur fume.

In virtually every case the cartoons made the stand up less funny.

The baby jokes can't hold a candle to early rug rats episodes, and I'm not what you'd call a huge fan of early rug rats episodes.

I think the limmited amounts of funny Nicka Dapola and Patrice whatver his name is are completely ruined by having to tie it into some sort of baby theme.

I think its shameful that anyone should be associated with that show.

I have also decided that apart from this one post I'm going to claim to be a huge fan of the show.

JeefGyle Dr. Katz was hilarious dude, but shorties watching shorting should eliminate the babies altogether. I don't think the skits are that bad.
May 15th, 2004 08:11 AM
Cap'n Crunch I fucking hate the theme song for Shorties Watching Shorties too.
May 15th, 2004 07:08 AM
James I forgot one AKA.

AKA DR. KATZ

I completely forgot about that show. At least Dr. Katz had more substance to it, and was actually fairly amusing.

EverythingWillSuck eh, i thought it was ok. If the babies and the annoying music during the skits were obliterated it might be good enough.

I thought the grandma and lobster ones were pretty funny tho

ProfessorCool gilbert godfrees (spelling doesnt matter, he's jewish) last supper joke was completely ruined by that fucking short.
Apr 29th, 2004 08:34 PM
Rongi I don't really think it could best summarized any better then that, really. Except maybe just "really fucking dumb show".
Apr 29th, 2004 08:23 PM
James "I don't get jokes. I mean, the comedian's up there, and he's making his jokes, but I just can't quite get the humor. I need the jokes visualized or something. Like, all comedians should have drawings or cartoons of their jokes in action, so I can understand the jokes and laugh as them."
Apr 29th, 2004 07:31 PM
Rongi The skits are ok. But it's a really dumb idea for a show. And I hate Jay Mohr with the passion of a 1000 christs :/

Last night's South Park was fucking great btw
Apr 29th, 2004 07:29 PM
Cap'n Crunch I saw it after South Park. I hope it doesn't last as long as Kid Notorious did.
Apr 29th, 2004 06:28 PM

EverythingWillSuck Jixby stop ruining my brain!
Apr 29th, 2004 12:55 AM
Jixby Phillips I think it'll be good; Think about it, they took stand up acts that are kinda funny, ruined them with stupid cartoons. So now they are taking those cartoons and ruining THOSE by adding hosting/bumpers whatever. so if it's ruining something that ruined something, won't it be good? It's like saying something is not not funny.
