theapportioner The FCC has mandated that TV stations stop airing analog signals by 2006. So all the over-the-air stations will have to go on HDTV. Any non-HDTV unit will have to get that HDTV converter box, and even then you'll only get regular TV reception. Not sure about what the rule is for cable, but I think it's the same. In the next couple of years HDTV prices will continue to plummet, and I don't think it's really worth it to by an expensive conventional TV unit at this point.

So I'm going to get a t.v. with this "compatability" :/ I was at Best Buy and the sales dude kept saying "I'm not on commision" but kept trying to sell me shit so I figure he is lying. Anyway he show's me a HDTV signal and then turns it off shows me a really grainy picture that he say's is regular cable but my cable isn't grainy so I said "That's not cable that's most likely antenna" "Uhhh well our cable isn't clear all the time and well it's just....So I bought the stupid t.v. and I'm still deciding if I should get the HDTV signal box thing.
