I live in French-Canadia, 10 mins from Ottawa, and french-canadians like to make Jokes about natives. Wemainly get jokes about them selling cigarettes and booze in their indian reserves. Most of the trouble comes from Mohawks. They're in drugs and guns and stir up shit once in a while :/ And as for compensating people for the past, well where the fuck do you draw the line? Like, does my neibhor's family have to pay mine until the end of time because one of their members kill my grandpa's dog 60 years ago? Do americans have to pay Britain for taking control of their country? Should we enslave germany? Should Rome pax taxes to each country they ruled 2000 years ago? :o |

I don't think we owe them anything, either. Paying reparations for stuff that's centuries old is crap. They didn't have a "country" to be compensated for to beginwith, and if they wanted the land so badly, they could have easily massacred the crews of the first ships that came over. Everyone back in Europe would have assumed that the boats sunk. WE don't owe the Japanese anything, either, because WE didn't to anything to them. Our grandparents' generation was busy fighting the war, and it was our great-grandparent's generation that was running the show at the time. And even then, it was a decision made by the government, not the general population. I didn't vote for imprisoning Japs. Quote:

When Declan moved to Toronto, and he was saying we had no sky, I honestly didn't get what he meant. I thought he meant there was too much smog or something. Now I know what he meant. There are rainbows ALL the time here! I think I saw a grand total of 4 befoe moving here in my lifetime, and now I've seen about 8 in a few months. Also, Prairie dogs are the best things in the whole wide world I feed them carrots.That was a nice lyric, fartin

I used to live at Queen and Bathurst! This one lady sitting on the steps of that hostel/youth centre used to always harass me. Anyway, the racism is pretty sad. Racist prairie hicks come off no different than racist rednecks. However, I don't agree with the free university, and exemption of taxes for Natives. Shit happened a LONG time ago - get over it. So they lost 'their' land, and that sucks... but colonization is a bitch and that's the shitty part about losing any war. It doesn't mean you should not have to pay taxes on an mp3 player like two hundred years later. |

Personally I think university should be free for everyone, but I'm just a dreamer. I think free school after having your country assraped out from under you is a fair trade. White people got Canada for free! Laugh all you want, I like Saskatoon  I can't get over the skies out here.

Oh yeah, well that's just a load of bullshit getting to go to university for free based on your skin colour. I want free shit for being white. Not as many of them take advantage of that as you'd think, though, which is a good thing for taxpayers and a bad thing for dumb Natives. LOL @ Saskatoon :P

I live in Calgary, and there's plenty of filthy Natives there. Although there are indeed many cool natives with their shit well together, its just I rarely, if ever see them outside, or on the train. Canadians are really racist against them though, especially the cops. In Saskatchewan and Manitoba cops used to, and probably still do drive indians outside of town on winter nights and make them walk back. And during a standoff against some natives in Ontario, some cops made a recording of themselves making racist jokes, which were actually pretty funny. I think it went like, "Hey we should set a trap for those natives with a six pack of labbat as bait." "Well, it works in the south with watermelon."THen the next day, some native got shot Why do all the canadian threads always talk about indians? How bout those flames?

Where did you move to? The racism isn't really hate-based, because it's only directed at the ones that live like animals and have no respect for property, hygiene or for themselves. There are plenty of Natives who are very nice people and super intelligent, too. I'm disgusted by any person that chooses to live in filth because they feel the need to blame society for their condition; it just so happens that most of those people around here are Natives. The name-calling is reciprocated by them, too, so it's all good.
