How is it WRONG? It was like "what word do I want to put here... something graphic and violent but not used all the time. Everyone does eviscerate... jugulate? No, too specific. Can masticate be used as the word form 'mastication?' The word basically means to mutilate beyond recognition, right? Oh, well, how about that, I am right. Mastication. Meaning to grind to a pulp. Sort of like what really angry animals do to each other." It's not a perfectly discriptive word, sure. Poetic lisence damn it! It was ment to make the read more interesting! And I was NOT making fun of you, I was telling you to make your fish stop masticating each other! Especially if they are expensive fish! But they turned out to be Zebra Danios! Or maybe gupies! You didn't really make that clear! Masticate! |

Umm... yeah. I actually looked up the word on dictionary.com BEFORE I posted it to make sure I was using the right one. I was implying they were beating each other up. And masticating is a colorful word for it. Like "pound pound I'm going to attack and eat you," you know? |

Fish don't have sex... the female lays unfertilized eggs and then the male wanks off over them. Then is some casses one of the fish takes the eggs and stores them inside of themselves. But the point remains that what you are watching is not animal sex, like you've come to expect from watching other animals, but animal masticating, like you've always assumed at first glance until the zoo keeper said otherwise. I would probably seperate them... especially if they are expensive tropical fish. |
