Like waht stabby said, it is best to not unzip them and just put the zip file in there. In fact when i tried putting the NeoGeo files used to play NeoGeo games (samurai shodown, metal slug and such) I unzipped it and it did not work, you have to put the zip file in it to work, because some files are hidden in there I believe. So keep that in mind when your getting neogeo games. |

You shouldn't even have to unzip the files. I'm using MAME32 and I can just put the zip file in the 'roms' folder. And for the record my zipped copy of Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition is 11.1 MB and that includes nearly all the american and japanese versions. |

| FS | Hmmm. ok, the problem may have just been that I unzipped the file into the wrong folder. I downloaded a poorly labelled SF2 file off planetemu, and now have a working version of SF2: the new challengers on my comp. I guess I'll just try more stuff. |

quick MAME question I came into the MAME thing rather late (since it took me long to finally get a decent pc) and now I just need a little help to understand how this works. Right now I have only one working rom, Mortal Kombat 3. I'm trying to get my hands on Street Fighter 2 the New Challengers (or World Edition, I forget because there's so many fricking versions) by downloading from romnation.net, only files for the version I'm looking for are all under 1 MB, and in my limited experience, roms are like 70-80 MB usually. How does this work? The zip file contains some files with numbers, not .bin files like that one rom I have came with. What do I need? |
