The ruling guideline seen above, shows the Renaissance subdivision of the figure into eight parts, each of which is equal to the height of the head measured from the chin to the top of the skull. Therefore it must be borne in mind that the head serves as the basic model; in fact, the beginner very well often gets the proportions between head and body wrong, and he must get used to keeping our ruling guideline in mind. A good initial exercise is to copy the figure just as it is, first drawing the lines of the diagram free-hand. In practise the procedure is as follows: trace a long vertical line and mark off the height chose with a short line at the top and the bottom (the height should be bigger than the model); judging with the eye divide it in half and then divide into two the two halves thus obtained, and then repeat the operation for a third time, so obtaining eight equal subdivisions. The same procedure is repeated along the horizontal plane, since as our guideline shows, the width of the outstreched arms measures the same as the height in this schematic of the human body. |

I want someone to read my weblog. I know it sounds really stupid. Your probably going "oh this loser just wants some attention" but I really want to get my point across to various people. Anyway here's the link, http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=piggyofdoom92 tell me what you think! |
