TBS to have Games on Tap
April 27, 2005 10:57:00
By David Radd
Broadband network will provide games-on-demand

Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), a Time Warner company, announced a new games-on-demand network today. Called GameTap, this broadband service will allow gamers to download games straight to their PCs, along with offering other original programing. 300 titles will be available at the beginning, with hundreds more set to be gradually introduced on a weekly basis.

"Turner's lifeblood is creating branded networks and we are excited about the opportunity to create an immersive environment for games following our success with other branded environments like CNN, TCM and Cartoon Network," said Andrew T. Heller, president of domestic distribution for TBS. "With GameTap, we are bringing to games what we brought to cable television: compelling, branded environments where beloved properties live on."

The GameTap service will launch in Fall 2005.
