Emu Haha, yeah Mike! That's totally what I think. Why spend so much on the Revolution when I can just pull out my NES? I mean, it's not so bad with the flashing screens, the dusty games, the broken cable connector, the broken adapter, the rusty 42-pin, the incompatability with hi def TVs, the fact that it can't play SNES games, and the controller that doesn't work, and ...oh, yeah.

thebiggameover no way is it gonna be free. i wish they would just make an add on that would let you play your old carts...

pjalne I'm actually kinda giddy about the Revolution myself, but it has very little to to about this aspect of it. It would be cool if the classic games were free, but it's not really a problem for me if they're not, I've got emulation shit coming out through my comupter's ears and equipment to play it comfortably in front of my TV. Wonder if my super-duper wireless gamepad is tax deductable.

Mockery I can't wait for this system.

ziggytrix God damn Nintendo, like you can really milk another million out of the original SMB.

Don't the Japanese know about emulators?!
Jun 7th, 2005 06:23 PM
EverythingWillSuck There's multiple news on this. Guess we'll have to wait and see what really happens.

I hope that the games are free though, and that they'll have some other stuff for pay, like third-party games and other crap.

Maybe we'll get unreleased games too. Mario and Wario

James Not so free, it turns out.

"Nintendo is planning on pay downloads as being the standard for this download system. There will be many types of services, though, including limited time free downloads. One possibility mentioned by Iwata is free downloads as bonuses for buying new games."

James How are they going to offer the peripheral games like Duck Hunt, Mario Paint, and Yoshi's Safari? That makes so sense to me.

Sure, it's nice to have the old games legally from Nintendo (and free, no less! Never thought I'd see Nintendo release old shit for anything less than $20), but what's really going to interest me in the Revolution will be the NEW titles.

I also don't care about backwards compatability with the Gamecube. I don't have a GC, so I don't have GC games. And Nintendo is seemingly awful at keeping their "greatest hits" games in circulation; I looked up a list of games I considered must-haves for the GC, and half of them weren't available. :/

rockets redglare It's interesting that the NES list included a lot of the light gun games. Does this suggest that its an inherent part of the new controller design?

Nintendo Revolution to offer free classic games

Buy the console, get the classic games for free. Some of the highlights are:

NES:
Donkey Kong series
Final Fantasy
Zelda
Super Mario Bros. series
Tetris
Metroid
Mike Tyson's Punch Out!

(sorry, no Mega Man)

SNES:
Donkey Kong series
Mario series
Link to the Past
F-Zero

N64
Goldeneye 007
Mario Kart
Perfect Dark
OoT
Majora's Mask

(damn, no Resident Evil)

Plus the console is backwards compatible? Holy fuck... I'll have enough Zelda games to keep me busy for a lifetime. I am getting the Revolution.
