I think they said that it would probably be used for gunshot or stabbing victims who have suffered severe blood loss. That's probably the only way it would really work anyway, since the procedure involves draining the patients blood.

It said the dogs didn't get brain damage but I find it hard to believe humans wouldn't. I wonder if a human would know they were dead or if they just wake up with like the last conscious thought they had.
