Ushnor, first of all, please at least read your posts before putting them up. The typos are painfully obvious. Secondly, the fact that it's 3AM is not an excuse to act like an ignorant, self-aggrandizing prick. By the way, Van Gogh did not paint "Starry Night" for the purpose of "scamming pepople (sic)." In fact, Van Gogh sold only one of his paintings in his entire life, for a paltry sum. "Starry Night" was painted in an insane asylum. It did not become famous because Van Gogh painted it, because Van Gogh died a totally unknown pauper. The painting became famous because there was and is a general consensus among art experts that it is an excellent painting. Please, try to be a little more intelligent with your next post. |

Rosenstern | The fact that it can't be defined is kind of what I was trying to say. It's really an anomaly of of our language.

King Hadas | Man you guys just dont get it, art is what's inside your soul, you can't define it with words or thoughts but only with your spirit my brother, that's real art.

The word "art" comes from the Latin word "ars", meaning skill. Back then, anything from painting to plowing was art. I assume our word "skill", comes from some other language. Our connotation of the word art eventually and accidently went to mean specifically fine art. So, really, in the purest form of the word, all skills are artful. Even buttplug-making. And Ushnor, you try building a good-looking electric fan! |

My mom keeps telling me that art is anything people will buy, like Andy Warhol's soup can stuff. The reason nobody really bought Van Gogh's work while he was alive was because it wasn't art, his life was the art. (Of course, see keeps telling me that so I'll rip off that damned Happy Bunny crap and get millions of dollars ) I told a friend of mine that and he said "What about buttplugs? People buy those. Are they art?" But that was before I saw handmade glass buttplugs, or the ridiculously large ones on the internet I'm still trying to find out what real art is |

Mr. Fugo | It's amusing how frequent people try that one out in order to look smart and believe they have conquered the aspects of art they know nothing about.
