executioneer my playstation 2 does not read dvds if they are v. scratchy but i give it a break because i've had it since the first day they were available in stores (part of the reason i bought it was b/c i didn't have a DVD player at the time )

King Hadas The Playstation games not working on my PS2 is kind of understandable since it's pretty beaten up (being a clumsy oaf I've dropped it atleast three times just moving it around) otherwise it works pretty swell but that God of War thing still throws me for a loop, we tried it out in my sisters slim PS2 and it did the same thing, it's a Greatest Hits version but I don't see how that could have any effect on how well it plays, maybe my brother just picked up a wonky copy.

camacazio You can drop an N64 off a scyscraper and it'll still work.

Emu I got mine in (I think) 2002, for Christmas. In spite of being pissed on by my dog, stepped on, kicked, and sitting next to a magnetic sub-woofer in my room for nearly a month, it still works damn near perfect.

I hear the slim ones are hunks of shit, though.

ItalianStereotype I've had two PS2s thus far. the first was of the original design and the only reason it broke was because my roommate was drunk and knocked it off of my entertainment center. it never had any problems playing any games or movies and would probably still be working today. my second and current PS2 is a slim model. I've had no problems playing ANY games, including God of War. it does, however, have some difficulty playing certain DVDs. so is it a shoddy system? not really.

King Hadas Is it just me or is the PS2 one of the shoddier systems out there right now? I recently bought a bunch of Playstation games off of Amazon and atleast halve of them will not work in my Playstation 2 without a huge hassle.

On another note my brother recently bought God of War brand new from Gamestop, went to play it on his slim PS2 and the system wouldn't start, the power would come on but the screen would stay black. He messed around with the plugins and what not for like an hour before he gave up and infuriated, declared the system broken. An hour later he threw a game in to see what would happened and the system started without a hitch, so then I tried God of War out on my older PS2 and it works like a charm, it seems for some reason God of War will not play on the newer PS2's which is goofy as hell.

Emu The Gamecube is srsly my favorite system out of all of the current-gen ones. It has the best controllers, some of the best graphics, and definitely the best games. There just aren't that many redeeming games on the PS2 that couldn't have been done better on the GC. (Silent Hills 2-4 especially. I would love to have those on GC.)

executioneer one of these days i AM going to buy a gamecube so i can play the fun games on it, but i seriously doubt i'm ever going to be interested in the new nintendo system

Emu Eternal Darkness is one of the best games the Gamecube has to offer. The graphics are superb if you take into account that it was supposed to be for the N64. You can find it at any GameCrazy for like 8 bucks.

Chojin WHAT IS ETERNAL DARKNESS AND SHOULD I BUY IT

sorry caps were left over from editing sevenforce's post ;<
Jun 15th, 2006 02:26 PM
the_dudefather plus, if you finish the game on all three paths you get a special ending
Jun 15th, 2006 01:38 PM
Emu At the beginning of the game, at the end of Pious' sequence, you have a choice between three artifacts to choose from that determines the outcome of the entire rest of the game and what the final boss is.

The red claw thing = Chattur'gha
The little squid thing = Ulyaoth
The green angelish thing = Xel'lotath

You can play through the entire game as different people? Or You just talking about all the different characters you become?
Jun 15th, 2006 01:01 AM
Juttin Amiga, Apple, whatever. I remember playing the crappy looking Lemmings and Oregon Trail with bad mechanics on Apple II.
Jun 14th, 2006 10:35 PM
Chojin I was gonna post something sarcastic about how every game out these days is from something else and it doesn't invalidate its existence on non-native platforms,

but it's a lot easier to dub you a faggot and call it a day.

Too bad Lemmings started off on the Amiga.

Also, GW is right, Twin Snakes is something you should rent at the most, because if you've beaten MGS 1, you'll probably beat this in about 6 hours at the most.

Fathom Zero Eternal Darkness is easily the best game on the Gamecube. I saw it for $8.99 at Gamestop the other day. I should've picked it up.
Jun 14th, 2006 01:31 PM
the_dudefather yeah and grey fox's voice isnt as cool

and if you have a gamecube, get eternal darkness for the love of Chattur’gha
Jun 14th, 2006 12:25 PM
Guitar Woman The easiest way to get it these days is off the interweb. But it's not a must-have if you've played the first MGS, so don't pay anything over 20 dollars for it.
Jun 14th, 2006 12:13 PM
Emu I can't find Twin Snakes anywhere. ;(
