Jixby Phillips Seriously, Jesse Camp is always on my mind at least a few times a year because I see Dave Holmes on TV at least that many times.

How was I supposed to know that?
I know, I reread the wikipedia article on him and they only indirectly mention the date in an external news link.

I just figured he was given a one-year contract, with no downside guarantee of how often he'd be used. Once the novelty of being the winner wore off, you didn't really see him again until NEXT YEAR'S contest, where they carted him out as the obligatory example of "I won, so can you!"

Then they kind of kept him around a little bit and paired him with the girl that won. And then BOTH vanished really, really fucking fast. Meanwhile, Dave Holmes and the runner-up for the new contest were still around. Then the girl left and Holmes went on to do tons of other shit.

lol. How was I supposed to know that? I dont have MTV (and I can live with knowing that). Im just saying that usually when they start these reality- TV VJ searchs, the winners dont really show up on the channel that often anyways, and so they pretty much dissappear

GADZOOKS I can't remember seeing Jesse Camp at all after he won the Wanna Be A VJ contest. It's like that the real prize was that the winner was thrown of the edge of existence. If that was the case, the right man won.

Mockery Later on, news of his prep school past exposed him as a privileged fraud.

So the fuckup that we saw on TV was all just an act? Somebody give that guy an Oscar.

And then beat him to death with it. Please.

Jixby Phillips Dave Holmes hosted on MTV for way longer than Jesse Camp and I see him hosting DVD on TV on FX

I voted for Dave Holmes

Also, Sniperwulf, this is ancient history (1998 to be exact). Jesse Camp is already forgotten.

James I found it funny that the runners up of the VJ contests had/have longer careers than the actual winners. Hell, that Dave Holmes guy is STILL working. I think he's sitting pretty on a Court TV gig.

Girl Drink Drunk Well, I've got good news for you guys; It will likely be a while before he became part of the regular VJ cast

There was this Much Music (the Canadian equivalent to MTV) VJ search not to long ago, and the guy who won has barely appeared on it since. I think you will see the same thing there.
