Well, I finally got around to seeing it. I can't describe how happy I am at how much it didn't suck. The writing was good, Daniel Craig was good, and the action segments were nice. No more Pierce Brosnan laser fisticuffs! No more surfing! No more helicopters starting up and whizzing away from a free fall! I sincerely hope the series stays on track. Seriously though, get rid of the product placement. "Only Sony Ericcson has the gps techology that a superspy like myself can rely on." |

happymedic | It was definitely a revamp of Bond, nice to see something fresh, and I reckon Daniel Craig pulled it off quite well. But I would agree that the last half hour or so really dragged on. If this romantic stuff could be incorporated more into the timeframe of the 'main' storyline, e.g. the casino, instead of being kept until the end of the film, it could have given the chance for the romance to develop further, while other events where ongoing. Still, I reckon that the film sets up very well for a sequel, not so much with regards to the storyline, but the way that Bond has developed as a character by the end of casino royale. |

I thought the poker games were pretty intense, myself. Also, I liked how they did the opening gun barrel sequence. In all honesty, it's a pretty good movie. |

It was a little complicated. Bond is new, woulda been fucked up by someone, especially LeChiffre's goons after the tournament no matter what, she makes a deal to save him. The deal involved handing back all the money, or trying to keep the money with either of them dying in the process. If I'm wrong, please correct me because I was confused the first time. The tension does lie somewhat in the poker game, but moreso what the outcome will be and what will happen. Poker on TV is one of the duller things in life, so I think they handled it well. Maybe it's just me, but after I won that money I woulda got my ass out of that place as quick as possible instead of sitting down to a nice steak dinner. It woulda been a lot less complicated if they'd had an exit strategy |

yeah I liked that he looks like a cross between a young Connery and Steve Mcqueen. I was thrilled that they retrained the torture sequence from the book. |

adept_ninja | Liked this movie but the movie dragged on to long. Liked the fact that it was more realistic and not a shitload of gay gadets. New bond is cool as shit also. |

Casino Royale, for those who've seen it (spoilers) I really liked the movie but one thing bothered me about it, mainly the last half hour. For a back-to-basics bond the last bit felt needlessly complicated. It also seemed like the movie did everything it could to keep the movie out of the casino, where the real tension was. Any thoughts? |
