AChimp Chewie ripping Jar Jar's arms off would still make up for all of that.

IMO, Episode II was better than Episode I, but I found that Lucas's reliance on computer graphics really took away from everything. It looked way too fake. You'd think that they'd do a better job when Lucas and his company are responsible for inventing half of the techniques that are used today.

Yoda should have just been augmented with CG, rather than completely replaced. Not having a puppet or Warwick Davies in a costume just destroyed him completely. The CG facial expressions didn't even match what the puppet could do.

The scene that stands out the most in my mind was where Anakin uses the force to raise that piece of fruit for Padme. You can soooo completely tell that they took the post-bite frame and just used the eraser tool, and it doesn't even line up with her mouth properly.

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.

FS I worry about what "cool shit" Lucas will throw in Episode III to make it more 'memorable'. I wish I had someone to go and MST the movie with me, but everyone I know either hates Star Wars or loves the new Episodes.

If there's a triple-edged lightsaber, baby Luke vs. Sith lord Force battle, or one mention of "m'lady", "negotiations" or "my young Padawan" in this movie, I will burn the theatre.

Zomboid Apology NOT accepted

Only a Canadian couldn't appreciate star wars. Fucking Canadians...
Apr 29th, 2003 12:44 AM
Grazzt I apologize if I don't like your bland cultural phenomenon.

Zomboid The original trilogy kicks total ass and anyone who hasn't seen it has no right to comment on anything star wars.

The yoda lightsabre battle was the dumbest thing I'd seen in years. He always seemed like he was so powerful with "the force" that he never needed to be jumping around and shit. I hated it.

Royal Tenenbaum "it would be cool if tarintino re-did the original trilogy, rated r and shit, man. boba fett would like, just bust in and start shooting shit. it'd be awsome, dude.'

That'd probably be the lamest thing in the history movies. No one, not even Tarantino, should remake Star Wars.

Les Waste Episode II was better than Episode I, but that's like saying I like it a lot more when I'm not biting the curb when someone violently kicks me in the back of the head that when I am biting the curb.

I used to really like Star Wars. Now it just makes me sick.

Krythor That's very interesting.

noob3 me and my friends always talk about this:

Royal Tenenbaum Why watch Star Wars when a new Lars Von Trier film is coming out?

He's just way past his prime that's all... he some made amazing films (Jaws being my favorite), but now I think he should just retire and enjoy his hooleymoooleybajillion dollars.

Yep, same here man. I really can't believe how many huge movies are coming out this year. I really can't think of another year in which so many big films were coming out. It's really awesome.
Apr 28th, 2003 05:38 PM
Protoclown Well, you should seriously watch the old trilogy.

I agree with Rog, there are too many awesome new movies coming out for me to give a shit about Episode 3 at this point. I'll still see it, just for the visual entertainment of it all, but I'm not looking forward to it in ANY way.

Everything I know about Star Wars comes from Kevin Smith movies, word of mouth, and various quoting/parodies in TV shows.

Royal Tenenbaum "You know, the usual for overrated directors."

Spielberg over-rated? Ha, he still made JAWS, Close Encounters, and Schindler's List.
Apr 28th, 2003 04:38 PM
Bennett George Lucas: I want to ensure continuity in the new trilogy.

George Lucas translator: I want to make sure all three of these new movies suck. Now, where's my awful awful?
Apr 28th, 2003 04:34 PM
Mockery I'll stick with the originals... these prequels have been nothing but huge let downs with a few decents scenes (maybe 10 minutes worth total so far?)

With X-Men 2, Matrix 2, Pirates of the Caribbean, LOTR, and much more all coming out this year... I say Star Wars can go fuck itself.
Apr 28th, 2003 04:24 PM
Skulhedface Regarding the visuals, you're right, that is the main appeal of the newer trilogy, and with that in mind, I think we can all agree that the Yoda ligthsaber fight scene was fucking cool
Apr 28th, 2003 03:55 PM
AChimp The only thing that would have made the Anakin/Padme love story watchable is a steamy sex scene with full frontal Natalie Portman nudity.
Apr 28th, 2003 01:57 PM
Zbu Manowar Somehow I think Spielburg would have made them worse....or gone on TV going on and on endlessly about how 'important' the movies are and how they describe perfectly to some pretentious agenda he has going how life and shit...and the last thing I need when I'm going to see an glorified piece of eye candy is some idiot going on how about minute details are his commentary about the world.

You know, the usual for overrated directors.
Apr 28th, 2003 01:54 PM
Royal Tenenbaum "I enjoyed them on a purely visual level"

Even the visual levels of the new ones suck. Lucas should have gotten Spielberg to direct them.
Apr 28th, 2003 01:38 PM
Zbu Manowar I'm still waiting for the fan-cut of Episode 2 to show up at comic-cons, shorn to a solid hour and a half that basically cuts out all that bullshit Anakin-in-Love crap. It was unrealistic to begin with.

As for a visual level, I think that's the only way Star Wars can be enjoyed. Let's face it, it's dull as dishwater but sometimes the effects are nice to look at. The acting, however....less said, the better.
Apr 28th, 2003 12:10 PM
Protoclown You know an awful lot about Star Wars for never having seen it.

You really should watch the old ones. They're awesome. Don't waste your time on the new ones though.

I enjoyed them on a purely visual level (as I'm sure I will also enjoy Episode 3), but as far as the story goes:

James Apparently, George Lucas lost his continuity among the piles and piles of money.

Now, I've never seen Star Wars, but I imagine that if Chewbacca's in Episode 3, that would mean that he should have a rather good idea that Luke and Leia are related, and Vader's their father.

Looks like Lucas is going to re-re-revise the original trilogy, using CG to add a knowing smirk on the Wookiee's face. You know, for continuity purposes.
