Next time you watch SPACEBALLS play "spot Tim Russ" I like Spaceballs better than Blazing Saddles, But Saddles is a Better movie. |

liquidstatik | I never really cared for their show, but the movie Brain Candy was pretty funny |

argonath | I love KITH. I think their humor is based more on the absurd, rather than Brooks' style of straight satire, so I don't get your comparison. |

Tadao | Vaudeville is really dead then I guess. DOn't watch Kids in the Hall, you might not get the jokes you fagots. |

Lobo Tommy | Spaceballs is good because it's so dumb. Like the Yogurt character. It's so stupid it's hilarious. |

pac-man | So I'm guessing that those of you who didn't care for Spaceballs probably abhor Robin Hood: Men in Tights? I'm just curious because they're more along the same lines than other Mel Brooks movies. I've liked all of his stuff that I've seen, although Dracula: Dead and Loving It was a groaner for the most part. |

I've never understood the hype around Spaceballs. I've always only found it mildly funny. If it weren't for Young Frankenstein, I'd have no love for Mel Brooks at all. |

For me, when I watch Mel Brooks in general I have to keep in mind that his incessant self-reference of Jewish culture actually made good sense at the time. I don't think the same type of "hey, we're God's chosen people! ha!" type of humor would work nearly as well today, especially in light of people who followed his cue without even attempting social relevance. Particularly, I think that Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi" routine was bad taste all over (and I was never a Seinfeld fan in the first place). That being said, I think I got far more laughs out of Space Balls than any other Brooks movie. Blazing Saddles is far and away a BETTER movie, though, for using comedy as a social vehicle in a fairly historic way. In the same light is To Be or Not to Be, but it's been too long since I've seen it to remember if that was funny at all. I've always loved "History of the World, Part I", but that's more because I love history and far less because I thought it was well-written. |

Phoenix Gamma | It's too dry for me (both the cartoon trailer and the movie). I remember laughing hysterically at the beginning as a kid, but forcing myself to laugh at the rest of the parts with my friends. |

Spaceballs is one of my all-time favorite comedies. The new cartoon, however, looks terrible. Seems like I've been hearing about it for years, and I guess it's already showing in Canada. Has anybody seen it? http://www.superchannel.ca/series/view/756/ |
