Trumpet: Miles Davis, Herb Alpert Sax: Charlie Parker, Coltrane Bass: Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius Piano: Thelonious Monk Guitar: Wes Montgomery, Lee Ritenour Big Band: Cab Calloway, Dizzy Gillespie Those are some of the best IMHO but it's all relative, really. It's really a question of experimentation. That's why I originally suggested getting a sampler CD to find out what interests you. |

Bitches Brew is long, but ill be damned if it doesn't kick ass. Also, check out "Monkey Blake" from the Jazz Mandolin Project. They kick ass simply because their main instrument is a mandolin. Addison Groove Project kicks ass, too. |

| kellychaos | A good way to feel about for what you may like in jazz is to pick up some of the jazz sampler CDs compiled by Ken Burns. He has a lot of the major artists broken up into different genres on CD. |
