Kitsa I've decided that I want the degree-diplomas of all graduating journalism/writing majors to be embossed with a seal that says APPARENTLY I FANCY MYSELF A WRITER NOW.

I was totally going to make one for illustrative purposes, but the seal generator's been down for two days.

Kitsa Also, and this is just my personal opinion...

Starting a sentence with the word "for" is one of the most irritating and stilted practices I see popping up in this kind of writing. I cringe when I see it.

Tadao I think there is nothing more I can do for you. Yeah I can criticize your writing forever, but that won't accomplish anything. Just have fun and practice short stories. I've only improved by writing, not by asking.

Kahl has an excellent point. Reading well-written books gives you an innate feel for what "sounds right" and what doesn't.
