Sethomas I was going to look for tracks, but I ended up sleeping until it was dark out today. We've seen puma tracks in my grandmother's woods, so I suppose it must have been a young one.

You don't neccessarily have to do that. There are repellent devices and such out on the market. Urinating around the area where you've seen it might help too. (the scent marks it as "your" territory to the puma). Just make sure a man does the urinating. Human female urine might actually attract animals.

FS EL. EL CHUPACABRA, YOU DISFUNCTIONAL JAPANOPHILE.

Wiffles What if the Chupakabra quit feeding on goats since it was goatse'd on the internet, and now feeds primarily on a diet of chickens.

Heheh ^_^;

Rongi Hey bastard . You never posted a picture

And "Chupakabra" feeds on goats, stupid

Rongi The only problem with that is, the animal might be an endangered species.

Zomboid Around here, the farmers actually sometimes have mountain lions/pumas/cougars/whatever eating their sheep or other animals. I find the idea of a big fucking cat sneaking into the sheep pen and dragging them off kinda funny, but the farmers really get pissed off about it. If it becomes a big problem, try to shoot the fucker.

Jeanette X Well lets see...there are only three wild cats are found North America...the Canada lynx, the Bobcat, and the Puma.
The presence of the Canada lynx has only been confirmed in Montana, Washington, Wyoming, and Maine. It might occur in Indiana, but that hasn't been confirmed and it would be very rare in that area anyway.
The Bobcat ranges through southern Canada and the northern United States, but it does not occur in Indiana, so scratch that...
The eastern puma, (puma concolor couguar) is listed on the Indiana endangered species list, so thats what I would assume it was.
Did it leave any footprints on the ground or scratch marks on the tree or the fence? If you can show me some pictures of those I might be able to figure out what it was from that. Also, did it leave any feces?

Hey Jeanie

Around three this morning, I was outside smoking muh pipe when I heard some of the chickens making crazy noises. It digressed until the chicken was making noises as if it were near death, which was not the most pleasant thing to hear in a pitch black night. I walked about thirty yards from my house, through the orchard, to the chicken pen when this was going on, and at last I yelled at whatever it was and the noises immediately ceased. As I got close I heard a little scampering, and I expected to see a racoon. I turned on a barn light, and instead I saw the dark outline of a huge-ass cat about two feet up a tree. It looked at me for a minute, then descended and scaled the pen fence, then climbed down the fence upside-down.

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't felis domesticus, because I know that none of the cats I've ever owned had the body strength to maneuver like that. Considering that I live in central Indiana, what do you think it was? I'm guessing it was a bobcat, which are rare around here. I've also heard that lynx live around here, but that seems a bit unlikely to me.
