Mockery Haha no, I just removed those so it didn't look like you went loco and were talking to yourself for about 3-4 posts in a row.

Mockery Ha... don't ask me man, I just had phade help me install the board. I still don't know shit about SQL. I just want the board to stop breaking. :/

AChimp

That version is almost a year old. It's stable, but they're not adding to 3.23 anymore except when they find a major bug.

The new 4.0 version is a lot faster and more efficient. Of course, the database version probably isn't the cause of any problems, but it couldn't hurt for them to get with the times.

Mockery "MySQL 3.23.54" is what it says
Jul 29th, 2003 04:43 PM
AChimp Have you ever run "check table" to see what the error was before you fixed it?
Jul 29th, 2003 04:36 PM
AChimp Hmm... okay. The MySQL resource says that you shouldn't have to run that command all the time, but it'll make no difference for the script.

Check the version of MySQL that you're using, though. It should say right after the "Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.X.X" message when you log in.
Jul 29th, 2003 04:32 PM
Mockery Nope, actually I'm selecting all the tables at once in phpmyadmin and then selecting "repair table". Chojin had me talk to this guy "phade" who runs a really large anime board (he's the guy who helped me get this php board up 'n running in the first place, and he told me use the "repair table" function and select all of the tables when I do it whenever the board gives me those errors.
Jul 29th, 2003 04:30 PM
AChimp Yeah, you'd have to make it from scratch. I can do it for you in a few minutes. Of course, you'd have to edit the password, username, database name, etc. Like I said, it's really simple.

Before I start, though, all you're doing is just "optimize table" on the broken ones, right?
Jul 29th, 2003 04:21 PM
KILLADEUCE Might have to make one from scratch... I'll look into it tho, I dont blame ya, going in and manually editing that shit can be a pain in the ass to say the least...

2. Optimize each table one by one.

Just have it run at, like, 2:00 AM or something when there's no one on the board. It should only take a minute or so, I think.
I've never heard of that script, where can I find it online? I'll take a look at it at least. I'm getting tired of going into phpMyAdmin every day...

AChimp I knew you'd delete half this thread.

EDIT: Alternatively, you could bitchslap them for messing up MySQL... I've had a few problems with my database, but they're almost always caused by something I've done. Do you know what version they're running, and on what platform? I'm not sure if the Windows version is as stable as the Unix one. The latest version is 4.0.13, I believe.

Also, have you done any modifications to the board regarding the databases?

You might find this link helpful, but I'm not sure if you have this kind of server access.

Mockery Originally the board was down a lot because of the host, and that still happens here 'n there, but lately there have been a lot of problems with the board itself. I thought the sql databases were supposed to be a lot more stable, but so far I'm not seeing that. :/ I'm constantly having to go into the database to repair all the tables. That's the only thing that ever seems to get the board working again each time (if it's not down because of the host).

ItalianStereotype but what IS surprising is that nobody has stabbed you in the face yet.
Jul 29th, 2003 12:52 PM
KILLADEUCE Yeah i notcied periodically there are php errors or Sql errors it looks like. With the high load of these forums it's not real surprising.
