No, it's kind of a joke within a joke. I'm always amused that people think Sodom was a city of gay people. Like the mayor said "You know, we all like butt sex so much, let's name our town Sodom." Actually the only sin mentioned in the bible the soddomites were guilty of was inhospitality. I've also always wondered why, when picking names for 'sins', no one was interested in calling something Gamoramy. If it's still up for grabs, I think I'd like to call talking louldy on a cell phone while on commuter rail gamoramy. |

The_Rorschach | That, Burbank, is a far more interesting question than you know. Are you aware of the Mahabarata and corresponding archeology, or simply an idle comment?

mburbank | What did they do in Gamorah that was so horrendous we don't even remember what Gamorahmy was?

FS | Proto, stop deluding yourself. The US is turning into Gamera, and one of these days it's going to fly off into space and battle Mothra for the fate of the galaxy.

My grandmother changed her mind about that whole Muslim thing after that email I sent her. I posted that somewhere on here. I was happy for that at least. On the whole, I think my family is willfully ignorant about a lot of things. They hide behind the curtain of religion and use it as an excuse to hate and fear a lot of what they don't like about the world. And if they heard me talking this way, they would say that the Devil has gotten ahold of me. I still love them though. They're good people. I just think they're as misguided as they seem to think I am. |

When I was on vacation this last week visiting my relatives in Indiana, this was a topic that came up at one point. I had to sit and listen to them talk about how the USA is turning into Gammora and how utterly apalling it is that gay marriage should even be considered a viable thing. That made me mad ![]() But I couldn't really argue with them, because I was stuck there with them and you CAN NOT win an argument with them about shit like that anyway. They pull out the Bible and next thing you know NOTHING YOU SAY matters unless it comes directly from that book. ![]() |

mburbank | Welll, thankfully the Pope has gotten on board the no Gay Marriage express, and I'm really really glad. I was very worried he might waste a lot of valubale time and effort trying to figure out how to keep Priests from molesting kids and reversing the institutional trend of hiding and protecting pedophiles. I'm glad he's found this important, vital mote in the eye of marriage and isn't going to waste any time screwing around with forest of boy-humping-beams the church has in it's own,

Well, I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to know that money which could have been devoted to a real, useful cause, is now going to pay lawyers to figure out how to create the most ignorant, hateful constitutional amendment in our country's history. Edit: Thanks, ZS. I guess I forgot about that one. It's sad that, these days, there are so many things to be pissed about that I forgot this one entirely. |

The_Rorschach | Marriage is a social institution, sanctioned by tradition. I don't the this, or any, government has a right to interfere with it. Our electred politicians should be less concerned with maintaining the Status Quo and more worried by economic trends arising in Iraq during our post-war rehabilitation period.

These contracts wouldn't be a marriage in the traditional sense. They would be contracts. They need to be seperate things. Just because you're an atheist doesn't mean we all are. Fuck atheists. |
