Lin Carter worked with L. Sprague De Camp to fill in the Conan timeline based on the notes that Robert E. Howard had left(Howard committed suicide). There are over 100 Conan stories now, I think, though only about a dozen are Howard's original works, with another dozen by Carter and De Camp which are based on his notes. The rest are done by generic fantasy writers, and a few other big names, like Robert Jordan (who has written five Conan books, I believe). It's kinda like the litmus test for fantasy writers: if you can write a D&D or Conan novel, you can move on to other things. ![]() |

As far as i know just de camp and howard, but don't quote me on this. All in all i felt De camp's style wasnt all that bad... But it's kinda hard to fill the shows of Howard... Kinda like Frank Herbet Sr, vs Frank Herbert jr... |

The De Camp stories aren't included in this book, BTW. I know a lot of hardcore Conan fans hate those stories, but I think that some of them are good. The ones I've read were, anyways. :/ |

Conan! I just found out today that a complete volume of every one of Robert E. Howard's original Conan stories was published a few years ago! For some reason, though, it's not available on Amazon.com's US site. I guess it's because the book is published in the UK. ![]() http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASI...810671-2744814 These stories are really great. ![]() |
