Zomboid But his tone implies that it didn't work, which it really, really did. Spider-Man frequently going maskless is a bit much, though. I'm not the least bit interested in that anyway, though.

kahljorn to be fair he did kind o flook like he rummaged around in garbage a lot.

smeared ketchup up the side of his face from desperately licking ketchup off of napkins and fast food restaurant trays. His suit is trashy enough already, but dudes so poor he can't even afford the matching hat with the top punched out.

dextire I would also like to know what movie has hobo Joker.
Feb 8th, 2012 12:42 PM
Zomboid I don't get the Joker reference.

Phoenix Gamma So I had this idea...

We take Spider-man, and we replace Toby McGuire with a prettyboy with an Edward Cullen haircut. That whole "ordinary guy becoming Spiderman" thing is tots gay and we need a new face.

Oh, and while we're making Peter Parker look handsome, let's have him rarely wear the Spider-man mask. Like, give him the suit, but have him keep the mask off for 70% of the scenes where he's actually Spider-man.

Oh oh! And let's keep the comedy to a minimum. Spider-man isn't some wise-cracking smartmouth. He's an angsty kid. The best part of Spider-man 3 was the part where he was a fucking tool, after all.

Perfect! This is better than that time they turned the Joker into a hobo in a pimp suit!

10,000 Volt Ghost Wasn't that what the thing was though? A shapeshifter?

J. Tithonus Pednaud I guess a remake of a remake just was too much.

From what I hear though, the new Thing walks a very fine line between remake and prequel. The tested film waswas shit on so much by fans that the studio got scared and demanded rewrites as well as reshoots to change elements. This thing has been in post for a long time now.

I've also heard that the monster sequences did not test well and are vastly different in both tone and appearance from the Carpenter version - which leads one to question how it can be a prequel if it's so different.

10,000 Volt Ghost I might go see it. Its actually not a remake though. spoilers for this movie unless you've already seen the original:::::

MailCall You know it's gone too far when they remake a remake:

J. Tithonus Pednaud I dislike remakes, I think they are often just lazy. But they can be instant bank for a studio.

A ready made fan base, previous public awareness and a proven story/script are all reasons for a remake.

Sometimes, studios screw up when they forget about one of those elements.

The Fright Night remake failed because it was a cult film - not enough public awareness of the title - and the fans that exist are rabid fans of the original. The studio didn't understand this and didn't expect the fans to completely ignore the remake.

Had it been a reboot, with a nod to the original, it might have been a different story.

The Planet of the Apes remake was a financial success because it had name recognition, the fans of the original were open to an update and the story was a proven formula. It was a critical failure, but a financial success.

In fact, the POTA property and brand was strong enough to make the prequel a GIANT success despite the fact that it was technically a prequel to a shit remake.

I can see why studios do it. It's a low risk move. But it is a low blow move that I don't respect. I'd rather see some original stuff rather than recent rehashes. I'd say a film should to be at least 30 years old before it's remade unless it is a retelling and re-imagining of source material outside of a previous film.

But I guess by that logic I have to give the Spider-Man reboot a pass.

replicant Eww.... that is a horrible thought, Nick. Let's just hope they don't go there.

k0k0 It's not really a remake, or a sequel for that matter since it doesn't involve the same characters, but they are planning on making a new scarface movie. Which sounds like it will be utterly shit.

Rock 'n Roll Highschool isn't interesting without the Ramones.

Image if they redid it with Lady Gaga or Ke$ha.

I know the reply that I'm going to get but I wouldn't mind seeing kid rock in concert. If you don't listen to all the radio singles he has he is actually pretty talented and can play 18 different instruments.

Supafly345 Okay you're right, but I definitely won't see it without a soundtrack by Bono and The Edge.
