pjalne Personally, I think the Kindly Ones artwork suits the story perfectly.

Grazzt People who have a problem with the artwork can keep reading their Jim Lee comics.

pjalne Your grandma liked it?!

And you're missing out, the three last books are great. Well, World's End isn't all that fantastic (still a damned good read, though), but The Kindly Ones and The Wake are simply incredible. Kindly ones is twice the length of the other collections, and the way Gaiman ties everything together is brilliant. Some people seem to have a problem with the artwork, though. The Wake is all about mood, and the artwork is the best I've seen in any comic.

Hobo Renee My friend gave me "Good Omens" for my birthday, but I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet. However, I let my Grandma borrow it because she's one of those people that reads 4 books a week and she really liked it. Anyway, I have to recommended "American Gods" to all of you. It is fantastic. Don't let the length put you off. It is a great story. I absolutely loved it! I also love the Sandman books, but my library doesn't have the last 3 books so I've been left hanging. Maybe someday I will become rich and I can buy all of the books.

Grazzt I'd actually like to see a tale about Destruction's travels.

Oh my god, I love that book.

One time, when I was sitting on a bus reading it, I came to the part where Azaraphiel the Angel is decribed as appearing "gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide." I laughed so loud it was embarrasing

Protoclown I just picked this book up at the book exchange last weekend. I think it's out of print now, but I'm not sure. I am looking forward to reading it. I hear that Caitlin R. Kiernan's story is what landed her the job on "The Dreaming" (if you haven't read her work on that series, DO IT! Though fair warning, the early stuff that she didn't write is not consistently good, and I think that's all they ever collected in trade paperback). Neil Gaiman was apparently so impressed that he recommended DC approach her for the job.

ziggytrix They were gonna make Good Omens into a movie with Terry Gilliam directing, but they haven't got the cash.

ziggytrix Delirium was always my favoritest of the Endless, too, but I don't know anything about that. You could prolly find out as much as anyone by looking at Mr. Gaiman's website.

I am now 7 stories into the book, and so far theyv'e been about new characters as much as old characters.

So far I like the one about what happened the day before the cereal convention best.

Generator86 I heard something about Gaiman doing a hardcover with a bunch of different artists about the rest of the Endless that's supposed to be coming out this summer. Any truth to that? If so, I can't wait for Delirium's story.

pjalne I've been wondering about this one. Are the Endless in it, or do the stories revolve around Cain, Abel, Mervyn, Lucien and the other guys?

The Sandman - Book of Dreams

Short stories by contemporary authors set in the Dreaming from Neal Gaimin's comics. Edited by Gaiman.

I'm 3 stories in, and so far, they're 3/3 in my approval.

I'll let you know how the others go. I'm especially looking forward to the one by Steven Brust. I'll let you know how it turns out.

PS - This thread is not about how slow of a reader I am. :P
