Command Prompt soundtest - I sure hope that kid goes to the labour board. Thats the fucking weakest thing I ever heard, and I'm pretty sure he could take them for a hell of alot, starting with wrongful dismissal, improper notice of dismissal, etc.

Of course I live in a NDP mandated province, were nothing you do is ever your fault.

Command Prompt I rotate between a barback and a bartender. I just quit the nightclub I worked at because I was barbacking for the GREEDIEST bartenders ever. The general rule of thumb is the barback makes half of what the bartenders make, since they can't do thier job if the barback doesnt do thiers (refill the ice, beer, liquor, help them serve...) however, I got tired of getting a measily 60-100 dollar cut of thier anywere from 300 to 900 dollar tipout. Fuck I would of been happy with an extra 50 bucks a night. Which would of required 6 people to pull an extra 10 bucks out of thier gigantic pile of free money. Ugh. On to the next club.

Working in this industry is amazing, I recommend it for anyone who isn't appearance dissabled. EVERY town, regardless of big a shitstain it is has a bar, and the best part is for you greasy americans, as long as you are 18 you can serve booze, you just cant drink it till your 21. I'm sure this varies state to state.

PROTIP - The most money you'll ever make without even finishing highschool.

soundtest I was working for a software company doing GUI testing and deployments for a bunch of clients in the US. I was making an alright salary (~45k) and had full benefits. The job bored the fuck out of me though, and I hated the completely incompetent management.

Last Tuesday, at 5pm my co-worker (this one other guy I work with, super nice kid, does not slack off or have a shitty attitude or act like everybody owes him something [like me], always tries his best, etc.) got called into the office. He came out two minutes later and said, "Hey Steve... can you go over my work and handle these blah blah work stuff next week?" I didn't notice his eyes were kinda watery. I said, "Why the fuck am I gonna do your shit?" He said "... because I'm gone. They're letting me go. They say I don't show enough initiative."

See at this point I lost it. This poor kid was always a scapegoat there, and the bloodsuckers were all over him because he took it. I hated the management there so much. But I hate management anywhere so much. I hate bosses. It's a carryover from always fighting them in videogames as a kid. lol

I just grabbed my bag and said, "No I don't want to do your work. I'm gone too. Fuck 'em." And I haven't gone back since. My boss called me panicking, because I was the only other one there who knew how to do what we did, she offerred me more money, but I said no and that I didn't want to return to such an 'unhealthy' work environment. So instead I got drunk, woke up the next day and went to the passport office and bought a ticket at a travel agency. I'm selling all my shit and flying out in 3 weeks.

sadie i teach high school english and journalism. this year, i have three english 12 classes and two classes of journalism, in which i advise the publication of the school newsmagazine. the school board office claims i make more than $20 an hour, so minus the time i spend outside my "normal" hours (8:30 to 3:30), i'd probably be better off financially working fast food.

WhiteRat I'm a munitions systems apprentice (soon to be journeyman) for the USAF. Interesting stuff but I can't stand most of the people that I work with because everyone here seems to love to gossip and stab others in the back.

Schimid Funny thing happened to me tonight.

I was working tonight and got two "job" offers. Sort of.

The first one came from a guy who came in and wanted a pillow. He asked me what my major was, and I just talked with him politely. After a while, he picked up that I was going into media, film, television, acting, whatever, and the guy said that his sister works in the movie business and took down my name and number, and he said she'd give me a call if anything came up. I doubt this will happen.

The second came from a big guy, about 6'6 who talked to me about the slot machine in the store. We made jokes about it, and about some of the other useless but life-enhancing products, and eventually he asked me if I was in school, if I was ambitious, yadda yadda. Then he asked if I was good in leadership positions. I said yes.

He gave me a business card and said he would call me. He is the CEO/President of a business (i don't know what exactly) and told me to call him if he doesn't call me before the week is over.

Chojin, I actually got in big trouble today for being consistently late. Some of it is really my fault (forgetting the renaissance faire was still in town and getting stuck in horrible traffic) but some is just unavoidable circumstance when it comes to leaving school at 1 and having to be at work at 2. Plus to be a salesman like that, I get the impression I'd have to be either extremely sleazy or extremely charismatic, neither of which I actually am :=

Jixby Phillips Oh yeah, I don't make enough money or get enough hours (even though I get more than almost anybody there) but I live with my parents so its cool

Zurala I work in a pharmacy for 9 an hour. I love the job, sometimes it's boring, but then again everything is at some point. The people, on the other hand, just need to be shot. I saw less drama when I worked at McD's with a bunch of high school kids. And the sad part is that all of the people that I work with now are supposed to be "mature adults" and they cry at the smallest things.

CaptainBubba While I'm at school I get paid 6.75 an hour, 15 hours a week to yell at kids when they make noise and patrol the halls of dorms shaking keys to get them to be scared.

At home on breaks I bake bread for 9 dollars an hour.

This summer I wanna do something like a comp sci. intership, or just lots of summer school if I can manage that.
