Thats not weird, he's white after all. And Bob Hoskins is a master of accents. Latino is a completely different ethnicity, which is a crime.
Italian and British are two completely different ethnicities, too, and the accent is the only part of Bob Hoskins that fit the role.

Esuohlim Probably just Metropolis. It was weird for its time.

ShanghaiOrange The recent Triplets of Belleville is beautifully bizarre.

Have you ever seen 12 monkeys? Sure, it looks like your average action flick with bruce willis and time travel, but it made almost no fucking sense. So, excuuuuuse me, mister I-work-in-the-entertainment-industry.
Actually, it makes perfect sense and comes full circle in the end. It's got a pretty conventional structure, if a bit more imaginative than most. And I don't really work in the entertainment industry.

Un Chien Andalou is pretty fucked up though. And is Tales From Gimili Hospital written and directed by Guy Maddin? If so, have anyone seen his new vampire film? I've got one of his films on DVD (Careful), and I've been considering getting the vamp one if it's any good.

Jixby Phillips I have his short films DVD it rocks DUDE. I reviewed the Amputee for I-mockery and it made the review spotlight.
Feb 16th, 2004 10:36 PM
Rongi The amputee by David Lynch was also pretty weird. One of the few David Lynch movies I kinda liked.
Feb 16th, 2004 10:34 PM
Stabby You can probably find it on Kazaa. If you really want, I have it on my PC but the copy is kind of poor. It definetly paved the way for a lot of things, it even was inspiration to Monty Python (or so I'm told).

Another good weird one is Tales From Gimili Hospitial. It's kind of a David Lynch wannabe but still pretty bizarre and interesting.

Rongi I saw UN CHIEN ANDALOU at some art film house. If I remember correctly, I was the only one there who was sober.

Jixby Phillips UN CHIEN ANDALOU

This was made by Luis Buñuel and Salvador DalĂ* in like 1927. When they wrote it, they rejected any idea that made any rational sense. So there's a woman getting her eyeball sliced open, a guy with ants crawling out of his hand, somebody dragging two pianos with dead donkies and living preists tied to them, and ocassionally a title card reading "2 years later" "4 years before" that are randomly placed throught the film pop up. This film is the basis of the song "Debaser" by the Pixies. Many say without this there would be no Pink Flamingos or Eraserhead.

Mr. Vagiclean Don't know the title of the movie, but it was just ALL about showing jesus getting disected on a table of some sort

My little sister couldn't sleep after that and blamed me for being so evil.... it was a freaking weird flick.

Gummo. I'm sure that's pretty tame, but the guy pimping out the retarded girl and then pinching his nipples was just disturbing.
