Proportions? As in how large the stomach is in comparison to his chest, or...? Anyway, I use Arnie as a model because I can clearly see where the muscles are supposed to go in the first place, where they are in relation to other muscles, and I alter the muscle size in accordance to how muscular I want my character. |

He's not supposed to be that muscular, though. :/ My main problem was just figuring out proportions. |

Well, if you're still having problems with the lower half of judgement, I'd like to suggest that you find a good picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger, like this one. It's cliched to look at Arnie as an example, I know, but the fact remains that every muscle is very pronounced, so it's easy to draw a similar build on your characters, and I'm not to proud to use him as a basis if I have to. Yes, I know. The gay jokes will start in 5, 4, 3, 2... |

OK, I think I fixed the arms and ribs on Judgement, but I'm trying to figure out how to draw the lower half of the guy. And the Nobody Kid, I really don't know how to fix that. :/ |

i think the arms/shoulders look wonky (too small) on the first one - probably that foreshortening thing haunting you or whatever. i'm not sure how to fix this. where's mle when you need her? the second one i like better, but it looks like it's leaning forward a bit? |

No, an incredibly rough rendition of two arms, one foreshortened and the other not. I pity someone whose penis looks like either of those. |

Forshortening, eh? Well, I'd make the hand overlap the wrist, for starters. And I'd use some more shading behind it. Crap, I can't explain anything. I mean something like this: That might help. |

I don't know if I can offer tips that you would want on the first drawing, because it's very stylized and you obviously have a very clear idea of what you want to do with it. But from an anatomical standpoint, he has all twelve ribs below his chest, where his diaphram is. On a real person, only three or so ribs would be visibly below his pecs. You've got the diaphram right on, but only a few ribs would take up that space. As I said before, it's very stylized and you're probably already aware of this, so feel free to disregard anything I say. The second one's pretty damned good. The only problem I see is that his right arm is too short. I would also make his right hand open, but that is strictly a personal preference, and has little consequence on way or the other. |

Want Some Opinions/Tips For My Drawings I've been working on drawing again. I'm actually feeling a lot better about it; I haven't been this happy to draw since 5th grade. I still have breakdowns, but nowhere near as frequent, and I don't stop drawing for months. So yeah. Here's two things I'm working on right now. Judgement - Eventually, I want to work out a full scene. but for now, I'd be happy just finishing this guy. I was trying not to make him look muscular, but not skeletal either. The style is deliberately supposed to have hard shadow to it, which is why things like the ribs look so pronounced (especially as the current endnote of the drawing). Having a bit of trouble working out the proportions for the stomach and legs, though. Edit: I just realized how off the arms are. http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/3...dgementis9.jpg Nobody Kid - Ideally, this guy will be part of a series of drawings called The Nobodies (or something). This kid is the frontpiece of what I hope becomes a drawing that features a large group of them of all shapes and sizes. I also tried to use more varied shading and keep it a little softer, and convey fabric textures (hard to see on the computer). I don't know if the wrinkling of the shirt and pants looks right or not, nor do I know if the legs looks right. I spent forever just getting to that point. http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/7...bodykidau7.jpg Thanks. |
