MarioRPG I say there should be a recurring "Sequels that shouldn't exist" feature.

Nick This movie is the scariest movie of all time. If you're a fan of The Exorcist, that is.

Captain Seamus On a filmmaking forum that I visit sometimes, there's a guy who did some special effects work on Battlestar Galactica as well as this movie. He said they had all sorts of trouble filming the African exorcism scene because the director kept changing what he wanted.

Love the picture of the major with the gun against his head. His expression is just pure "Well, I've done all I can."

Shadowdancer21b Ah, Pazuzu. What a kidder, being a Sumerian Elder Demon and hanging around Africa for no good reason. I'm glad I didn't watch this one.

baronterror thing is the original director finished his movie, his vision, but when he submitted his final product to the producers or whatever, they wanted way more over the top "modern" type scares, ect. So they fired him, hired a new director to salvage what he could and film their changes to make a better scarier more what they wanted movie. And that second version is the one you saw. Exorcist the Begining.

The abject failure of that movie caused the producers (or whoever owend it at that point) to allow the original director to release his original version of the film, which was finished anyway.

That one was retitled Dominion: the prequel to the Exorcist. It is not a perfect movie, but it is far and away better than the "perfected" version. The original directors vision was more tame, more subtle, and far and away a better story. This sadly got released to DVD only into mostly obscurity.

If you've seen this movie floating around but didnt know what it is, now you do. Dr. BOogie, I challenge you to watch Dominion: The prequel to the Exorcist, and anyone else to see an example of modern power struggles in the movie buisness.

Basicly the same cast, same sets, similar story, different directors, different movies. Dominion almost makes up for watching Exorcist the Beginning.

stonewar which prequel is this? aren't there two released with same actors but different directors?

DarkfireTaimatsu Well, the director decided to make up for that all at once at the end of the movie, starting with the classic makeup.

He decided to make up with makeup! How appropriate. =3

Kat That woman clearly didn't take a sexual education class in high school.

Everyone knows if you get pregnant from premarital sex that you give birth to a maggot-infested fetus. Which isn't too bad when you consider what happens to the men...

Always use protection, kids.

All Hail Duke uh...

well, i've read that exorcist 3 isn't half bad

as for this, and the sequel...it's best to take the same approach one would take to the prequels and all these goddamn endless horror remakes: they don't exist
