Phoenix Gamma She's still lovably annoying. It's just that they decided to give her more than one line of dialog

Guitar Woman I wish they'd kept Daisy as annoying in other games as she was in this one.

bigtimecow you can still avoid red shells or green shells by firing a shell backwards, by pressing down + x or y.

Studio8 Has anyone beaten Mirror Mode? What happens after that?
Jan 1st, 2004 11:25 PM
Studio8 You say MK, I read Mortal Kombat.

Oh ok

So blue sparks have to do with power sliding eh? I've never played the game, hence I don't know too much about it, but http://www.penny-arcade.com keeps making references to 'bringing the blue sparks'. I was just curious.

Nerd Yeah no shit. The jump was one of the coolest features in MK64, and they had the nerve to take it out. Getting the power slide is harder now, but it's just a matter of getting used to it.

James Err, you mean power-sliding?

That reminds me, I hate that there's no jump in this game (unless I missed it). In MK64, well-timed jumps could screw up a red shell, and you could make it hit a wall or something. Not to mention you could jump over banana peels and stuff.

PorkchopSandwiches What's all this ish about blue sparks? I'm too lazy to go find out..

Studio8 Go to blockbuster and do the month rent thingy for 20 bucks. That's all you'll need for this game.

Emu I like the DK mountain level where they fire you out of the cannon. That's neat.

James My cousins got a Gamecube and this game for Christmas, and I played it today.

It's an OK game, but really nothing great, in my opinion. The levels seem incredibly short, not really giving you a lot of time to ever fully explore the newfound strategies included, such as the two racers per cart, dropped items, interactivity with the tracks, and special attacks. The levels in MK64 felt a lot bigger.

On top of that, none of the levels really stood out as being memorable. We played every one on the Mushroom, Flower, and Star cups, and I ended up not having any favorites. They just seemed rather dull, to be honest. It felt more like, they designed the track layout, then just threw on the Mario themes. And most of the tracks feel a lot alike.

And on a lesser note, handling takes some getting used to, especially with the GC controller. It feels looser compared to the N64 game.

It's a good game and all, and fun to play with others. But it just didn't feel nearly as gripping or as innovative/original as the past two games did. I was expecting more.

I've never been big on cordless controllers, I just want the standard controllers. Nothing fancy, just the basic, cheap Nintendo controller. I can't wait to play this damned game with more than one player.
