executioneer THE PERFECT WILLY WONKA

Dec 13th, 2004 11:56 PM
Perndog Sigh.

I agree with Willie that Johnny Depp looks too young.

But Wonka's not supposed to be all that old either. He's *getting* old, which is why now is the time to find a child to take over the factory. He can help bring the child up with reverence for the magic of the chocolate factory. So Willy Wonka's like 50 (only 10 years older than Johnny Depp). He can train the kid for fifteen years and retire at 65 confident that the factory is in good hands.

Guitar Woman Creepy.

AChimp Eh... watching that trailer makes me think that this movie will just make people appreciate the old one even more.
Dec 13th, 2004 08:22 PM
Jixby Phillips i never read the book but wonka doesnt look that old in the illustrations >_< and if wonkas too old to run a factory then how is he not too old to go into space with charlie in the sequal >:O
Dec 13th, 2004 07:25 PM
the_dudefather maybe the chocolate makes him look really young

or making him old would make him look like a peodiphile or something (luring children into a magical factory using chocolate and such)

executioneer thats becuase wonka's supposed to be F*CKING OLD god dammit wtf how the hell are they gonna handle the "i'm getting to old charlie you take over the factory ;_;" bit (SPOILERS LOL) i mean is he gonna be dying from AIDS or something b/c that would work cause he totally looks gay now
Dec 13th, 2004 02:44 PM
GADZOOKS That's why you drench yourself in blue gasoline.
Dec 13th, 2004 01:17 PM
Jeanette X I don't recall Wonka having a father in the book either. :/
Dec 13th, 2004 12:00 PM
AChimp It's just an excuse to have Christopher Lee in one more thing before he dies.
Dec 13th, 2004 11:29 AM
Anonymous It's been a while, but I don't recall hearing about his father in the movie or the book.
Dec 13th, 2004 04:50 AM
FS Also, am I being senile for not remembering Wonka's father ever being mentioned? Or is this for some kind of flashback sequence?
Dec 13th, 2004 12:41 AM
ScruU2wice I wasn't creeped out at all... I hope the whole thing is alot freakier
Dec 12th, 2004 06:09 PM
executioneer too f*cking young wtf wonka's supposed to be a "little old man"
Dec 12th, 2004 06:05 PM
the_dudefather plus he wears WACKY SPACE GOGGLES! (of 2 varieties)
Dec 12th, 2004 02:47 PM
Fluxuation I don't really think Depp will make the best Wonka, nothing will beat the original, he looks a little too odd in this movie.

That said, it's still going to be a must-see.

Nope. We never see the other kids again after each sequence in which they are...removed... :/

Grandpa Joe Looks Too old
In the book, Grandpa Joe is in his nineties.

Quote:
its weird how the actor playing the grandpa is YOUNGER than the one playing the dad (christopher lee)
Christopher Lee is playing Wonka's father, not Charlie's.

Anyway, this looks great. Perfect blend of whimsical and creepy -- very typical Burton.

EisigerBiskuit Oh, Tim Burton!
That preview was creepy

The oompa loompas in the new movie are all played by the Indian midget who scale doubled for one of the hobbits in LotR.

And I agree with Jixby and Spectre. I was sceptical when I saw the character presentation stills that were published a couple of months ago, but this looks great.
