JediScum I seem to remember liking "Vampire Hunter D" quite a bit when I watched it about 10 years ago. I don't remember anything else about it though.

Jeanette X There's an animated movie called Wizards that's supposed to be really good. Haven't seen it yet though.

Forte I have not seen this movie in a while... I should pick it up when I have time. What year was this again? Anyone seen Big Trouble in Little China? The commentary on the DVD was pretty funny.

Fathom Zero There are two Heavy Metals, the first and 2000. Julie Strain is funky.

Then there's Dominator by Renga Media, which is sold by Heavy Metal and Kevin Eastman and company. It's not a Heavy Metal movie, but it's in the same vein.

AlliSabbah I believe there are two the second was I believe Heavy Metal 2000 unless I missed some more that werent mass marketed.

RaNkeri Cowboy Bebop - Knockin' on heaven's doors , pure awesomeness

Aren't there several Heavy Metal cartoons? I think I've seen the one made in the 2000s

Fathom Zero An unbutchered Thief and the Cobbler is hard to come by and Fire and Ice is a wonderful movie, too.

Jeff The Ninja Ohhhhh, Animation Thead

Ralph Bakshi is my hero (although his adaptation of Fritz the Cat caused Robert Crumb to kill of his creation) and i recommend that you watch Wizards, and the Lord of the Rings (People say its crap, but it was a heavy influence on the Peter Jackson movies.

Also check out Rock and Rule. Its a cool film that is pretty hard to get nowadays. And the Thief and the Cobbler is a fantastic movie.

JediScum I didn't think "Cool World" was bad, it's watchable. I think it's Brad Pitt's first film (maybe not).

What I really dig about that movie is the soundtrack as it's about 60-70% OLD Moby and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult.

If you like Ralph Bakshi, don't forget his half of the "Lord of the Rings" he did. Mixes live and animation but stops towards the end of the Two Towers. For it's time, it's pretty good.

Fathom Zero Heavy Metal's definitely for you, though the opening is a really cool Japanese take on a western style.

J. Tithonus Pednaud Ya, I have Fritz and Heavy Metal too. Those movies were formative to my teenage years - as were the HM magazines. I'll have to check out Cool World again. I know I saw it but can't remember it for the life of me.

AlliSabbah Heavy Metal = Great

Fritz the Cat = Good

Cool World = So So

Monkeybones = Horrible horrible

Akira = Great

Evil Toons = Hilarious

never saw Wonderful Days though.

Fathom Zero Cool World? Like Monkeybone? You're out of your mind. Go see it again.

Check out any of Ralph Bakshi's movies. I love Fritz the Cat with a passion.

Heavy Metal is also an exceptional movie. I own three copies.

J. Tithonus Pednaud Cool World? I remember that as being a bit of a mess. Sort of like Monkey Bone, right? Anyway, Akira and Wonderful Days are two landmark films in animation worth owning. There was a T&A horror rip on Roger Rabbit called Evil Toons that was so bad it was funny.
