theapportioner My guess is you'd have to find a private lawyer who specializes in mental disability law, ADA, etc.

MetalMilitia Can't you just get some ambulance-chaser, lawyer type with a faulty moral compass to make a case against the school?

You could probably sue them for, like, a quadrillion dollars.

AChimp Well, you should start removing incriminating online evidence!

Spetsnaz I suggest you sue them for racial discrimination and say that you're half black.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will have your back.

Sethomas If I did that, I have a feeling they'd research my online identities until they come here, and cite my participation on these boards as evidence to the contrary and tell me to leave them alone for another four years. Then, they'd post pictures on the internet of gay porn with my face photoshopped in and loosen the lug nuts on my car when I wasn't looking.

Seth needs sorta legal help. (SERIOUS TOPIC)

So, most of you VETS probably know that I've had to deal with all kinds of bullshit from two different universities. The second of them happens to be a major force in the realm of public education, the first of them happens to be one of the highest-ranked learning institutions in the world.

Without repeating what's already known or easily figured-out, my idea has been for the past several months to challenge the legality of the public university's actions against me, and that's where my nominal effort has been. Once I achieved that, I could dally there for a while with the goal of getting back into my dream school per the requirements that they set up.

However, recent discussions have led me to think that dealing with the state school might not be a good time expenditure. One reason is that they're quite comfortable in their being reticent cocksuckers. However, another reason is that my recent recollection of events is making me more and more convinced that the better school seriously fucked me over and endangered multiple lives in the process by their own actions. Hence, I think that a better way to spend my time is to try to get back THERE as soon as possible. I would like to see this done by a mere well-articulated threat of legal action, but legal action will likely be necessary.

The problem that the first school, the one from which I'd like to get my AB, did not deal with my mental health issues in an appropriate manner. When this resulted in my actions that justifiably led to my removal (for at least two years) from the university, they did not follow established protocol in doing so. Furthermore, they added stipulations for me to follow that were both unnecessary and cruel. They've been perfectly transparent about their desire for me to never come back.

So, the question is, where the hell do I start? I've talked a great deal to the local mental health advocacy offices, but I get the impression that they have nothing to offer against a multi-billion-dollar juggernaut in another state. They told me to look up the local ACLU, but apparently the ACLU won't deal with cases that aren't affiliated with the government. (I might be able to use them against the state public school, but certainly not a private one in another state.)

What I would guess to have the most promise is maybe an appeal to the Department of Education's Civil Rights Office. The problem is that I have no idea how involved they could be, or would want to be, involved with a private institution. So, fuck me. What should I do?
