All it is is Romeo and Juliet with vampires and werewolves. Haven't seen it yet, though. I want to.

liquidstatik I know it's not weekend but...

Monday!
Desperado - Awesome fight scense. DVD has an 'anatomy of a shootout' feature that tells how they direct the shootouts. Awesome.

S.W.A.T - It was okay. I liked the way they did the news-camera type effect. I hated the one guys face though.

Underworld - Had good effects and monsters and stuff... didn't care for the story though.

HickMan Kelly's Heros is a terrific movie. The beginning where they're in the jeep is genious.

LacrimansTaurne I only saw "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" this weekend. Watched it to write a DVD review for the school paper. Utter crap. By the way, did anyone else think Hyde looked like the love child of Fat Bastard and the Incredible Hulk?

liquidstatik Saturday - Zorro! :o
Jan 25th, 2004 06:46 PM
Rongi Wednesday: Hard Days Night - Quirky and funny little b & w film starring the beatles. John Lennon was the best in it

Thursday: Help! - Good, but not nearly as good as Hard Day's Night. Not as memorable either

Mockery Saturday - Matrix Reloaded @ Richmond's historic Byrd Theatre
(complete with the organ player that rises out of the ground to play a tune before the show)

The Unseen I watched a clockwork orange and that's it

I do like those old Akira Kurosawa samurai films. They are QUITE fun.

HickMan Friday: Pulp Fiction. This is the best movie of the 90's hands down. I can watch it over and over again

Saturday: Ghostbusters. 'Nuff said. Also saw This is Spinal Tap. Another hillarious movie. This is the first Mockumentary I've seen. It dosn't beat out Best in Show, but it's still good.

Sunday: Caddyshack. Just like the ghostbusters. Return of the King. If this movie dosn't get best picture, Hollywood is full of more shit then I thought possible.

Movies seen this weekend.

Friday (9:50)- Mystic River: Good stuff. Definitely one of the top 3 films of the year. Don't know if it beats out Return of the King in the Oscar running, but it was definitely a great film. I've never really been a huge Sean Penn fan, but this movie was extremely well done in every aspect.

Saturday (10:00)- Yojimbo: A great old-school Japanese movie. Toshiro Mifune makes a great samurai, and the movie itself was hilarious in addition to the intriguing music and story line. Excellent movie.

Saturday (4:15)- Girl With A Pearl Earring: Was pleasently surprised. I read the book in school, but none of my classmates seemed to like it, even though I thought it was great. Scarlet Johannssen is a hottie , and all the major plot points were hit. The cinematography in this film was absolutely fantastic, and she really did look like the girl in the painting. Acting was good, and the set was realistic as well. I do think more of the book could've been brought in to expand the plot a bit more, but it was awesome nonetheless. S. Johanssen got a GG nomination for this movie, even though she probably only has like 5 pages of dialogue.

Saturday (6:15)- Sanjuro: Another fantastic samurai movie. Same character as Yojimbo, and played with humor and intensity. Great film.

Saturday (9:30)- Cold Mountain: I went to the theater to see this, but the line was extremely long, and I'm antisocial, so I just decided to go home.

Sunday (1:00)- Big Fish: I know there was another thread made about this already, so I won't repeat anything. Very cool. I was always kind of iffy with Tim Burton, making both good and bad stuff, but this was a very cool movie.
