On a happy note the adjustor and the contractor met on repair price. I'll be meeting with the contractor tonight or tomorrow to get everything scheduled! I'm so glad to be done with the insurance people. |

I don't know about you guys, but when I was about 13 or 14 I would sneak out with my friends on the weekends after my parents went to bed. Anyways, I was hanging out with my ex-boyfriend, this guy named Trey, and this guy Bubba who was on a perma-acid trip. Anyways, Trey got Bubba (who was 19 at the time) to help him steal his mom's car. We drove around for a while, then Bubba dropped myself and my ex at our homes. Half an hour later I get a call from Trey's mom saying he crashed their van into the living room. Apparently Bubba freaked out and made Trey (who was only 13) drive the van into the carport. Well, being as young as he was, he didn't know how to drive well, and ended up crashing the van through the garage, kitchen and into the living room. Yes he was a moron. Yes I laughed that Trey was stupid. But I really felt bad for his mom |

sadie | . it's like that with wrecks here, too. the only thing is, although they're first-responders, if there's a dangerous situation (except fire, of course), the firepeople are not likely to get involved. i guess they'll sit around watching the house till the cops get there or the guys strikes the match.

ziggytrix | There were fire trucks all over the place, and I was just getting home from work at about 10 PM. The neighbor said he'd called 911 at 9:30. Funny bit is the cops weren't on the scene til around 10:30, so the moral of this story is: if you're in Dallas and there is a burgular in your house, call 911 and say, "There's a prowler in my house, and I think he's got some MATCHES!"

No, not really. That bit of brown on the far right is my living room door, and bricks were displaced on the outside all the way to the porch. The majority of that wall was a 3-pane window anyway, and all 3 windows were cracked. Nothing was ripped out that wasn't damaged to the point of needing replacement. I'd bet a thousand bucks the guy was going no less than 50 MPH when he hit. |

Emu | Yeesh, it seems like they ripped out a lot more of that wall than was necessary.

I still have my house. It's just uglier and a lot easier to break into. Should be getting the 2nd contractor's bid today I hope. I can't wait to get a crew on building this shit back. And there wasn't any kid in the car at the time of the wreck just so ya know. |

A baby seat in the back of the car?? More incentive to put something a little more like 80 proof in the bottle. If that kid were knocked out, zig would still have his house. I tell ya, when good dads go bad... |

Carnivore | Moats should've never gone out of style. If you had had a moat, they would have been fishing his body out when you came home. That would've been fucking cool!

I didn't see the guy who did it until he was already in the back of a squad car. So there was no real chance for revenge. I don't even care though, on top of criminal charges he's got an insurance company on his ass now, and that's about the same as throwing him in a pit of rabid jackals. Everyone from work came over Saturday and we did a lot of work to get it reinforced and boarded up, and tomorrow I have to skip lunch to meet with a contractor about a bid. As for this happening to Sports? Well, after dealing with the initial shock, it's really not THAT bad. It's just a hassle as a single homeowner to have to manage all this shit while working 40+ hour weeks. Still, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. |

Dr. V | Fuck me, after all that work you've been putting into it! If that was me the cops would have been hauling me off. They should sentence him to live in that fucking car for 6 months.

If this was sports, we would be holding him in place for the driver of that car. Sorry ziggy. If you need a place, you can crash in Richardson with me. Probably shouldn't say "crash" though. |
