No rockstar re-released it as an M rated one after they removed the sex game from the code. I'm banking this means my 1st gen GTA:SA is worth double the price I bought it for. Ube here thats almost 1/4 of the price of the 360 :O

Okay. It's time to end the bullshit. I for one am fucking sick of this jerk's antics and I want to put a stop to it.

I'm thinking big. I want him disbarred. I want his license to practice law revoked. And damnit, we can do it.

What provoked this response from me? There's this article on GamePolitics (which uses Livejournal to allow users to comment on articles) and after going on CNN to talk about the upcoming Blitz: The League, Thompson himself made a few comments that really fucking pissed me off.

Just got back from CNN. It's a piece on Lawrence Taylor's ridiculous new Midway game in which the goal is to break the rules, break legs, and send hookers to opposing players' room, just as LT did in the NFL.

Don't know what if any of mine stuff they will use (you gamers wouldn't understand how cable news works) but, funny, this here "joke" didn't see any of you GamePolitics pixilantes int he piece. Fascinating.

By the way, Penny Arcade lied about my refusal to honor my charitable donation promise. As soon as the game I outlined is actually done by the "industry," as I indicated and released in 2006, and as soon as Paul Eibeler identifies to me the charity, I will gladly fork over the money. Penny Arcade got it wrong, as usual.

Whom did CNN contact for a comment about Blitz: The League? They didn't contact Doug Lowenstein. They didn't contact the drooling cretins at Penny Arcade. They didn't even contact a single gamer, I guess because they wanted the truth.

They contacted Jack Thompson. Why? Because the "don't confuse me with the facts" gaming community (what's next, the marijuana community?)has nothing rational to say about the marketing of mature games to kids.

The purpose of the law in California is to say this: Parents, it is your job to make the decision on these games. We will not allow retailers to sell adult games to kids behind their parents' backs.

This letter is regarding the current status of the license to practice
law currently granted to Jack Thompson through the Florida Bar
Association.

As you may know already, Jack Thompson is a very controversial lawyer,
more often than not resorting to political matters to solve his own
personal disputes rather than through the courtroom. However, in recent
months, it has become clear to me that Thompson is not merely a
controversial individual, but is also a very corrupt, callous, and
often rude individual who, in my own estimation, does not exemplify the
ethical principles for which a lawyer should hold, and I believe that
the Florida Bar Association, in holding with you claim that "One of the
primary purposes of The Florida Bar is to assure the highest standards
of professionalism in the practice of law for the benefit of members
and the public."

referrendum to determine if Jack Thompson should be able to continue
practicing law.

Evidence for my claim is rampant. Recently, he has engaged in a very
callous and irresponsible tirade with the creators of the VGCats online
web comics (http://www.vgcats.com) and evidence of this encounter is
available here: http://www.vgcats.com/jack.php. During this exchange,
Jack Thompson made a number of unprovoked references questioning Scott
Ramsoomair's sexuality, intelligence, and use of pyschotropic drugs,
all of which are unsubstantiated and irrelevant to the discourse, and
then proceeded to threaten legal action in an irresposible manner.

Furthermore, Mr. Thompson has responded to claims made by the creators
of the extremely popular online webcomic Penny Arcade
(http://www.penny-arcade.com) were "criminally harassing" him. However,
this alleged harassment, which Mr. Thompson has irresponsibly made
claim against Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, was in response to a
single e-mail sent to Mr. Thompson which responded to a proposal made
by Mr. Thompson (where he requested that someone make an
extraordinarily violent video game directed at a specific individual in
exchange for $10,000 donated to a charity

that his proposal had been carried out by a programmer

responded by calling the creators of Penny Arcade to, essentially,
spout vulgarities at them and rudely explain that the proposal was
entirely in jest and that no money would be donated to a charity.
Therefore, the owners of Penny Arcade donated the $10,000 in his stead
to a charity, since he clearly wasn't going to.

Mr. Thompson responded to this selfless act of giving $10,000 to a
charity by asking the Seattle police to arrest them for criminal
harassment.

However, as I understand it, criminal harassment is defined as follows:

The Criminal Code was amended in 1993 to include the new offence of
"criminal harassment." This crime is more commonly known as stalking,
although the two are not identical. Section 264 of the Code sets out
precisely what types of stalking behaviour are illegal. This includes:
repeatedly following someone from place to place
repeatedly communicating with someone
spending time outside someone's home or workplace
making threats against a person
where these actions will cause that other person to be fearful for her
safety.

None of these actions have taken place, and Mr. Thompsons request for
arrest is extremely irresponsible and unprofessional. The creators of
PA made 1 unsolicited e-mail to Mr. Thompson, and it was, in fact, Mr.
Thompson who followed up on that e-mail many times in a very rude,
callous, and unprofessional manner.

This, however, is not a new position for Mr. Thompson. He is infamous
for publicly questioning the sexual orientation of Janet Reno, despite
the fact that her sexuality has absolutely no barring on her political
position, and it is, in fact, illegal to consider such things with
regards to public office.

Furthermore, Mr. Thompson is infamous for making wild and outrageous
comments, such as the following:

"Islam promotes the killing of innocent people," Thompson said. "The
Quran requires the infidel, whether Jew or Christian, to be killed. ...
That's a core essence of the religion. ... Muhammad was a pirate who
killed infidels and who advocated the killing of infidels. Not a nice
guy. Osama bin Laden is in keeping with his fine tradition."

Honestly, I cannot see how an institution that is designed to "assure
the highest standards of professionalism in the practice of law for the
benefit of members and the public" can allow such a horribly callous,
unprofessional and irresponsible individual as Jack Thompson to
maintain a license to practice law through the Florida Bar Association.

Therefore, I am calling upon the fine people at the Florida Bar
Association to organize a referrendum to determine whether or not Mr.
Thompson should maintain his license to practice law through the
Florida Bar Association.

I didn't write the letter above, but I did copy it and send it to the Florida Bar. I'm passing this on to every forum I go to in the hopes that others will do the same, that there will be such a tremendous response that they'll have no choice but to hear us out. And even more, I pass it on in the hopes that the Florida Bar will hear of these incidents and realize that this man is not fit to practice law.

You may have seen Jack’s proposal mentioned on various news sites. He’s offering 10 grand to charity if a game developer makes a game based on his insane proposal.

So I got his email address and I went ahead and sent Jack a note this morning:

10 grand is pretty weak man. Through our charity www.childsplaycharity.org gamers have given over half a million dollars in toys and cash to children’s hospitals all over the country.

I’ll let you know if he responds.

The fact is when we kick off Child’s Play 2005 on November 1st we’ll be going global. We’ll be delivering videogames and toys to children’s hospitals all over the world now. I don’t think there’s any better response to Jack’s insane ramblings than that. Maybe Jack would like to donate his 10 grand to Child’s Play, that could buy a lot of Game Boys.
