CIA analyst Stephen Pelletiere (ret. prof at the Army War College) says that after Desert Storm, when Iraq refused to bow to US. pressure, holding out against American dominance, George W. Bush fabricated the present crisis so as to, once and for all, beat the Iraqis into submission - to control oil..."

When the government doesnt speak the truth the people will be forced to step up and speak it for them.

mburbank Nalds. Are you sure you're not a Jixby Character?

I'm at home right now and busy, but the next patch of time I get, I'll actually look up the pentagon/state department documents and cut and paste for you.

This administration, officially, as policy, not covertly, noqw embraces pre-emption.

We have also stated, officially as policy, we will not allow any country, friend or foe, to approach the level of our military strength. Any one on earth, no matter who, builds up, we build up more.

Bush has said in the War on terror you are with us or against us. He has said if the UN does not do what he thinks is right, they will be irrelivant.

This is pretty much a statement that we intedn to excercise global hedgemony.

Show me where I'm out of line here, and TRY not to say 'Well, you said dominate, so you are.'

Ronnie Raygun Oooh, you clever bastard...
Feb 28th, 2003 12:16 PM
Carnivore And you are an idiot.
Feb 28th, 2003 12:12 PM
Ronnie Raygun It's not THAT complex Carni.

RIGHT is RIGHT.
Feb 28th, 2003 12:09 PM
Carnivore Hey, Ox. It seems you're on the right (meaning left) side of things. Welcome aboard. I may need to eat you, however
Feb 28th, 2003 11:19 AM
Ronnie Raygun Wow!

Maybe I should start using leftist catch phrases so I can be popular too.

..........................

I think Bush only cares about oil and world domination because he's a dumb, rich spoiled brat who only cares about oil and world domination. All his dad cared about was world domination and as a matter of fact he did it. He dominated the world....but the public was kept in the dark about it. It's all a big conspiracy. A conspiracy about oil and world domination. Bush is just like Hitler because Hitler wanted to dominate the world but Bush Sr. actually did it.............wait. .... . .. .. .If Bush Sr. already did it. That means Bush Jr. already has control over the oil and has achieved world domination. So what's this all about?

.........................

There. ... now I fit in here.
Feb 28th, 2003 10:58 AM
Ox If you have a meaningful counter-point, by all means put it up, Ronnie. Max has proven thus far to be on top of things as far as his political viewpoint is concerned, while you...well, you're a crow in the roost, babbling about something-or-other.

By the way, newb here. I am saying howdy now.
Feb 28th, 2003 09:48 AM
Ronnie Raygun Keep talking......

So tell us more about this "world domination" thing. It makes for a good story. Maybe you should wright a book. I'm sure a few people would buy it.
Feb 26th, 2003 02:11 PM
mburbank You stay in you tiny little box. Is being condecending a Christian Virtue?

What about the paraenthetical

(and I don't mean James Bond type world motivation, I mean hegemony, ie. a world where the US calls all the major shots all of the time and backs this role up with the constant threat of force.)

do you disagree with? Or did you stop reading as soon as you saw a pharse you didn't care for? If I did that I'd never finish one of your posts.
Feb 26th, 2003 01:12 PM
Ronnie Raygun Once someone says term "world domination" when refering to Bush, you know they're an extremeist.

Stay in you tiny little box, Max.
Feb 26th, 2003 10:30 AM
mburbank Well... He is the commander and chief of the worlds largest army. They do kind of need his approval in order to do things. I don't think he's actively steering events, but a lot of stuff can't happen until he signs off on it.
Feb 25th, 2003 11:39 PM
roonTing After we bomb Iraq, maybe we can bomb the protestors, and people who think that the President has THAT MUCH to do with everything.
Feb 25th, 2003 12:27 PM
mburbank While I would agree that this is Dick Chenney's hidden agenda (and that carrries enormous weight and is a large part of what we are doing) I think there are several other agenda's at play in the mix. I would doubt the issue of the Euro as oil currency has even been raised to our commander in chief.

I think W's motivations are two fold and not surprisingly simple.

First and most concious: World domination is the U.S.A's manifest destiny (and I don't mean James Bond type world motivation, I mean hegemony, ie. a world where the US calls all the major shots all of the time and backs this role up with the constant threat of force.) Woeld domination is our natural role, best for everyone and intended by God.

Second, and less concious, but I think more important, W. intends to show his father who the real man in the family is.

I think the simplicity of W's motivations and world view allow far more sinister folks Like Chenney, Rove, Wolfowitz etc. to drive their agendas without ever needing to describe what they are.

The real reason for war

A long and involved essay, but it illuminates a dimension of this crisis that has rarely been addressed in the media.

The real reason for an invasion of Iraq
