Chojin I don't know, I know plenty of bums who aren't homeless.

Most of them I've met at community college.

Kant spelz Now that you're homeless you can go on bumfights.
Live the dream for all of us.

Perndog I do intend to sleep with my trombone though, like a cold, hard security blanket.

J. Tithonus Pednaud You and your crazy desires, like guitar-less sleep.

Perndog I didn't say anything about electricity or hygiene. Even when I have a place to live, those aren't high on my list. There just isn't any space in this unit for me to sleep, except on top of a guitar or something.

J. Tithonus Pednaud ...pussy...

You and your crazy desires, like electricity and hygiene.

For the record, I was in the US at the time.

Perndog I rented a space with just enough room for my stuff stacked to about eye level. I'm not going to sleep on top of five and a half feet of boxes and instrument cases.

Also, you live in Canada, where civilization exists in name only, so your experience has no bearing on mine.

They do check, and you can lock it - sort of. I used to wedge a block into the top of the sliding door.

It was actually pretty cozy. I would get up in the morning. Head over to the YMCA to grab a shower. Go busk for most of the day, hang out with some friends and then go back 'home' fairly early, before the yard closed.

You can live just fine without electricity and running water.

Fathom Zero My dead-beat stepdad was a cop, so I was fortunate enough to learn that the police have their own code to get into the building or through the gates of storage facilities. It may be "*911" or some variation. That could get you inside the building from a side entrance.

Think Silence of the Lambs. One day, it won't be you living in there... just your severed head.

Homeless

So my post-October housing plans fell through because I was in Japan and the other person was too busy to find us a place to live, and I can't find a place to sublet for just a month, so now I have to move out next week and don't have anywhere to go. I'm calling all of my friends and offering $100 a week to sleep on their couches and live out of a suitcase (I'm renting a storage unit for all of my stuff). Hopefully this will only last for two weeks until I take off for my first cruise ship gig, but it might be up to a month. The good news is that I just bought a kickass laptop so I can play computer games in coffee shops.
