Tadao This is really cool. My old forums were robot based, makes me miss them a little.

MLE well thanks, cedar. If you're an artsy person yourself, you should post some of your stuff!

MLE I have a lot of layers, actually. I use photoshop cs3. I use groups and all, so if i need to change the tone of, say, her clothes, or her skin is too red, i can edit that easily with adjustment layers. There will be about 5 or 6 layers to edit if i want to edit on the originals. it's irritating :<

ZAKO the GREAT so what program you are using?
i usually open a new layer, then i start doin' cover-up's over the section i did wrong, then i merge the layers.

usually i'll separate the file in few layers. Outline, Shading, Color & Finally BG as the lowest. Outline will always stays on top to avoid hassle when i need to redo any part that fucked up.
i don't really know what to say
don't rush, and you'll get it right. there's one time when i was rushing an assignment that need to pass up the next day, the comp suddenly GONE BLUE. (i use my office's old pc while i waiting for my new macbook. and worst of all, i have a bad habit of not saving my file in the middle of my work.) at that moment, i was real pissed that if i happens to met Bill any day, i swear to god i' gonna rip his balls out. yeah. i'm that pissed.

MLE i've been struggling with the hand for a while, i'm just not sure how to get it across to the viewer that it's foreshortened.
Jan 3rd, 2008 04:30 AM
ZAKO the GREAT you can actually modify it just the way you do with the sketch...
Jan 3rd, 2008 01:46 AM
Tadao Argh! GW that sucks! Now it looks all messed up to me. Perhaps you can slap a Gauntlet on her?

Guitar Woman Part of it is probably how it's barely noticable in the other ones

especially the first drawing because she's holding something
Jan 3rd, 2008 01:28 AM
Guitar Woman I didn't notice it until just now :<

Sorry :<
Jan 3rd, 2008 01:27 AM
MLE you know, you could have mentioned that in the first run-through.
Jan 3rd, 2008 01:26 AM
Guitar Woman It might be a little late to mention but her forearm looks really tiny
Jan 3rd, 2008 01:04 AM
MLE Yeah, I am. She's from North of Creation, and once I'm done with the coloring, i'll be adding snow effects to her and glints off her hair and such.
Jan 2nd, 2008 05:57 PM
Tadao Your going for snow/ice type o feel huh? If so... you got it.

ZAKO the GREAT try move the mouth upper, closer to the nose, but not the chin. and the palm should be bigger. otherwise, it's ok.

Fathom Zero He's got an "old, homeless woman" face.

MLE This is a character from the same campaign as my friend's (her character is the girl on the polar bear). I still need to put markings on him after cleaning up lines and coloring. Just letting y'all know what I've been up to artistically. I would appreciate any technical critiques on this (not idealogical), thanks!

PS - I am terrible with male anatomy. I had to reference musculature charts the entire time

MLE

I am going to sleep. I still have to clean up and make the lines on Boris (polar bear) more defined and gentle, but after that, i'm coloring.
