TuxKamen Saw this one in the theater when it first came out, then talked about it in high school the next day. One girl I knew hadn't heard of the movie and thought I was just trying to scare her (I gave the brief description of "If you say his name while looking in a mirror five times, he shows up and kills you.")... good times!

Pandajuice It's good to see you take my suggestion earlier this month and toss Candyman some love Rog. I watched it for the first time last year (and it still holds up today) and since then, wondered what you thought of it, as I've come to trust your opinion when it comes to horror movies. It is definitely slower paced and more psychological than the genre is known for, but that's why it works so well.

Desert_Screams One of Tony Todd's best performances. This and Savini's NOTLD remake put him in the top five percent of genre performers, I think. He's always consistently good but these were films that really showcased what he can do. (And don't forget that great, shaggy-dog cameo he had in HATCHET.)

DrewP Did you ever think the Candyman was pissed off at Beetlejuice because you only had to say his name 3 times to call him as opposed to 5?

Green Yamo I just want to say that "put the shits right up me" is now my new favorite phrase.

Nick All the sequels sucked.

saturnknight I remember this movie, creepy as hell, not many movies like that anymore. Now they're all gore killing scenes meant to scare you, but it doesn't work... Even the new Friday the 13th wasn't scary in my standards.

but this one is classic, and much better than "Urban Legends: Bloody Mary" which is a waste of time for people if you ask me (i own it by the way)

Mikenstein Candyman is probably the most atmospheric of the 90's and later horror movies. I count it among my top 5 horror flicks of all time. I love this one.

DavidFullam Flush it, read the story instead.

BurnPianoBurn I hated bee's, and still hate bee's. Also the bathroom scene was traumatizing as a kid.

Icculus I remember watching this in the middle of a summer day with the sun shining and we were still scared shitless. I was pretty young at the time still don't think I've brought myself to watch it again, maybe once.

Doctor_Who Love this one. It actually creeped me the hell out when I was younger. Tony Todd is BRUTAL.

Shame the sequels weren't up to snuff. The second movie isn't terrible, but the third is a waste of time.

Mockery Yeah, there was a public restroom scene with Virginia Madsen and the gang members. She has the little kid keep watch while she goes in to take photos, but a different "Candyman" comes in to pay her a visit.

narcolepticsloth I remember watching this movie when i was a little kid.. like 3... watching it from behind a couch because i was supposedly too young to view such a film.. its kind of a good thing i did watch it because now i am not afraid of scary movies of any kind, yet they are my favorite kind of movie. But I also cannot use a public restroom because of Candyman. Funny thing is I dont even remember why, was there something in Candyman that involved a public restroom? or a port a potty?

anyone?

dextire I loved the trailer whenever this movie was playing on TV. It would start out with the "Who can make the sun rise?" song, and then cut to a person screaming and a quick flash of the Candyman.

This movie scared me to death as kid. Great movie.

robo_rob Yes, excellent film. Used to scare the crap out of me as a child.

Purple Man Seconds on the Virginia Madsen thing - she totally made this movie extra-fine for me. Sorely underused actress, she is.

EchoCharlie Saw this in my early twenties and it scared the crapola out of me. Great film.

Fat Ugly Drunk This film put the shits right up me and my sister when we were kids.
When it finished I started saying it in front of a mirror, she smacked me upside my head.

Haven't seen it for an age, think I'll dig it out.
