MailCall Ilitch pays Prince Fielder a king's ransom to nudge out MC and be fat at the same time. Will this move make a difference? What happens when Martinez comes back? Trade for a pitcher?

Colonel Flagg Ryan Braun. Guilty or no? He's facing a 50 game suspension.

He claims that there was no intent to deceive or cheat. That defense worked real well for JC Romero last year.

MailCall Congrats again to AL MVP Justin Verlander.

I would like seeing the Birds in, too. Friends at work are big fans. Jackson starts tonite. He reminds me of Scherzer for the Tigers.

MailCall Selig is misunderstood. And baseball needs a jolt.

Also, good job on that HR Cabrera. Now stop doing that stupid John Cena hand-across-the-face thing. Yech.

sspadowsky While I agree that Bud Selig is a turd, you may want to check out this article:

Pentegarn I grew up loving the sport, but let's face facts, baseball is in a sharp decline. Steroids, players charging money for autographs, controversy, congress getting involved. Baseball has suffered one black eye after another to such a degree that 2 sports that both disregarded the fans during their respective lockouts garner more fandom than baseball does.

Honestly I blame the commissioner, all this crap has happened under his watch, and he arrogantly let it because he thought the resulting home run derby would save baseball, in his hubris though his turning a blind eye to what was going on has cost him dearly. the best thing he can do for baseball is step down and let someone with fresh ideas try to bring it back to what it was even in the 80s

MailCall One thing's for sure: the Money Men are NOT happy. The Yanks are home, the Sox never made it, and the best record in the majors has been knocked out. Verlander might be a draw except he got slapped last night. Watch for the lowest-rated World Series possibly ever.

Colonel Flagg Looks as if it's 6 to 9 months on the shelf for Ryan, which means there's a good chance he'll start the 2012 season on the injured list. And that's after a successful surgery, which isn't guaranteed, and which can't even be attempted until the swelling subsides.

Indeed, a shitty way to end the season. Why couldn't he have pulled a Kirk Gibson?

btw, good luck to the Cards, Sspad. I hope they kick the crap out of the Brewers.
Oct 9th, 2011 08:39 AM
sspadowsky I love when the Cards make it into the post-season in this kind of fashion. Nobody gives them a chance. They are always the underdogs, and that makes it more fun to root for them.

Sucks for Howard, though. What a shit way to end the season. By all accounts, he's a very nice guy, and as bad as I wanted the Phillies to lose, I hate to see that sort of thing happen to him. Why not someone who really deserves it, like Nyjer Morgan?

Colonel Flagg Are you ready for an Eagles Cheer?????

Ready?????

E * A * G *
aaaah, whatever.
Oct 8th, 2011 10:20 PM
MailCall In a way, their starters stalled...especially Lee. What sucks for Philadelphia is this: they got their hopes up with the Eagles and the Phillies...Title Town Blues.
Oct 8th, 2011 10:12 PM
Pentegarn I was a bit taken aback by it, all MailCall heard from me this year was "Phillies Phillies Phillies, nobody can beat the Phillies" which was how i was here come to think of it. But I honestly thought with that stable of aces and the competent hitters they collected it would be a slam dunk. Not sure what happened there though
