they pulled a harrypotter and made the last one 2 movies

Dredd was really awesome. Gritty and nihilistic with a touch of subtle black humor. Just the way it should be. I have no idea why this wasn't a success at the box office.

Skyfall......Good fucking damn great.

Growing up I watched a shit ton of james bond but I've always wondered what it would have been like to see the old ones in the theaters when they came out. Skyfall made me feel that way.

Here's to another 50 years Mr. Bond.

Krythor Nov 19th, 2012 03:06 PM

BUT IT MAKES NO SENSE!

10,000 Volt Ghost Nov 20th, 2012 12:28 AM

What part of it doesn't make sense?

Aaarg Nov 20th, 2012 06:54 AM

devils on the doorstep
let the bullets fly
howling 2: your sister is a werewolf
iron monkey 2

Krythor Nov 20th, 2012 01:19 PM

The biggest plot hole in Skyfall involves the scene which is embarrassingly stolen from the Dark Knight. The majority of the other plot holes revolve around it.

Without spoiling, the whole London portion of the evil plan doesn't make any sense, and Bond's arrival at that point stops making sense from the casino. I read the wikipedia entry for it a few days after seeing it thinking I must have missed something but no, it's mind boggling.

Mad Melvin Nov 20th, 2012 03:40 PM

Plot hole? In a Bond movie? Fuck that shit, take me back to the days of The Moonraker when things made sense.

Fathom Zero Nov 20th, 2012 05:02 PM

:lol

10,000 Volt Ghost Nov 20th, 2012 11:11 PM

What dark knight plothole did they take now?

That's my point, even by Bond standards it makes no sense.

Spoilers!

It's terrible. I'm a life long bond fan and accept the bullshit like say, the underground train crashing through the tracks at the exact moment that the bad guy wants it to etc, but the basic plot needed heavy rework.

Krythor Nov 21st, 2012 02:03 PM

Even a Bond film as terrible as Die Another Day has its own internal logic that it tries to abide by, even if it's laughable, eg the evil scarred Korean guy gets plastic surgery and becomes a thin, English gentleman can be accepted on some level because the film tries to explain it. But Skyfall doesn't play by its own rules: it wants you to think it's a gritty, realistic Bond film, but can't be bothered doing the heavy lifting to earn it.

Dimnos Nov 21st, 2012 04:03 PM

I haven't seen the new one but jet out of curiosity, how do you feel about tomorrow never dies and the new casino royal?

Fathom Zero Nov 21st, 2012 04:35 PM

I wouldn't say it all hinged on Bond finding him. I believe that he would've made it increasingly easy for them to find him after a while.

darkvare Nov 21st, 2012 06:28 PM

he knew they sent bond after him since he had everything mi6 had about bond after he was tested again

dextire Nov 25th, 2012 12:28 AM

Watched all 4 Critters movies back to back. Enjoyed them all but in going from favorite to least favorite; 2 is by far the best, 4, 3, 1.

All Hail Duke Nov 25th, 2012 03:31 AM

Been ages since I've seen either but I liked Casino Royale and think that Tomorrow Never Dies is really underrated. Last time I watched Goldeneye it wasn't as good as I remembered.

I watched Argo a week or so ago. I mostly enjoyed it, although the sappy ending ruined it a bit.

Fathom Zero Nov 25th, 2012 12:37 PM

Goldeneye is really, really campy, but I'm cool with it. The opening scenario was awesome, though.

Ex Leper Nov 25th, 2012 08:54 PM

The Dungeonmaster (1986) - Great cheesy Charles Band film with a cameo by WASP! Not on DVD :\

Beer (1985) - Weird comedy about guys who be come famous for doing beer commercials, OK.

Vamp (1986) - Underrated 80s vampire movie i should have seen long ago.

Ghost Warrior (1986) - Another Charles Band film about a Samuri in modern times, dull.

All Hail Duke Nov 25th, 2012 11:48 PM

philadelphia-pretty good, i guess

Mad Melvin Nov 26th, 2012 12:57 PM

Looper. Not bad. Not bad at all. Didn't expect much, so I was very pleasantly surprised.

Babs Nov 27th, 2012 03:21 PM

Hey ex leper, I just recently watched the dungeonmaster (ragewar) the other day as well. I was wondering if there was a DVD version but all I could find was a VHS copy. Time to setup a petition.

Aaarg Nov 28th, 2012 11:07 AM

just visiting, a remake of les visiteurs

It's available on netflix but I don't think there is a DVD yet. I'm guessing the music rights (WASP) are preventing it from happening.
